The radical left played a major role in the No victory in the Netherlands. This campaign was led by the Dutch Socialist Party. Contrary to a posting on another thread this campaign had no links with the right wing No campaign. The DSP are strongly anti-racist and would have nothing to do with Wilders racist/anti-immigrant politics.

The DSP grew out of a small maoist group but has been transformed into a mass democratic party. Despite the name it is not linked to the London based CWI, though a tiny CWI faction exists within the party.

With more than 44,000 members, the DSP is the third largest party in the Netherlands in terms of membership. Only the Christian Democrats (CDA) and the Labour Party (PvdA) are larger. It is a thoroughly democratic party. Each branch elects its own board and representatives and delegates people to other democratic institutions within the party, including its ruling bodies, the Party Council and the Congress.

The DSP has eight MPs in the Lower House, four in the Upper House, two in the European Parliament and over two hundred representatives in city councils, sub-councils and provincial councils.

The other so-called left parties, the social democratic Labour Party (PvdA) and Green Left (amalgamation of Greens and former Stalinists)campaigned for a Yes vote.
