Tommy Robinson's "Uniting the Kingdom" march in July was widely condemned as "far Right". But 'nice Jewish girl' Jacqui Smith went on along because of its stand against antisemitism and found it anything but.

GAMA workers protest today

category dublin | worker & community struggles and protests | event notice author Tuesday May 10, 2005 13:08author by Turkish Workers’ Action Group Report this post to the editors

Turkish GAMA workers to protest at Commission for Energy Regulation –
Today, Tuesday 10th May, at 2.15pm
Plaza House, Belgard Road, Tallaght

Turkish GAMA workers currently on strike are to protest today at 2.15pm at the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) Office. They are demanding that the CER revokes the license to generate electricity granted to Tynagh Energy (80% owned by GAMA) unless it and GAMA immediately pay the workers all the money owed.

Turkish construction company, GAMA forced its employees to work over 80 hours per weeks and at wages as low as €2.20 per hour. The workers are now in their fifth week of strike action, and a huge amount of money is still owed to them.

The CER should make clear its opposition to these slave wages by revoking the license immediately, unless the money owed is now paid.

Apart from the massive exploitation of workers, if they are allowed to benefit from such intense exploitation, Tynagh Energy would have a massive unfair competitive edge over other generators and suppliers of electricity in the Irish market.
