our holiday has been reclaimed.

and in ancient fashion we have invented a saint to go along with it.

photos from around the place:-
pray for us - Saint Precario, deliver us from evil, deliver us from capital, for its a miracle to make ends meet.

My favourite bunch of walkers was the boat filled with kids which transported the virgin mary and her monks and sisters of the order of Saint Precario to the cathedral, handing out little prayer leaflets.

I walked happily with my favourite dog (of all the dogs I know though not mine, my friend's) who is a sort of red setter, and barked all the way, "woof woof woof!"

There is nothing wrong with inventing saints by the way, it is very traditional, many saints did not exist, and rather are representations of troubles, woes, faced by the community and the power of intercession. If you read the St. Precario prayer, you aren't actually praying "to him/her" you are using Precario as a symbolic intercessionary character to so that Holy God an his blessed mammy will hear your plea, and help you make ends meet and pay the rent.
Precario is superior in many ways to a lot of saints others use, in that we know he/she didn't exist, rather like St Jordi/George/Jorge, Precario gets a good story, got the cathedrals of Europe's consumerism for the day, and will no doubt support a big market soon enough in religious trinketry. you can help. Write your letters attesting to the intercessionary power of St. Precarious to your local bishop and telly station. Describe his/her miracles.

We're going to do it all over again next year.

Interestingly enough for those of you who don't know London, Hackney is one of those few areas in central-ish London which has no Tube. That's why they had to get the train. The traditionally poorer areas of the city to the east and south suffer on transport integration, but they have Tescos, and samba bands once a year. Thus you will not find Hackney on your standard issue underground map. But you will on the other. (hee hee hee)
Please note well, ye blesséd precarities of Eire, of you're thinking about going to Scotland, that plod is less patient than your local civic guard,
of either sticks or dublin metropolitian variety, and its very easy to get up plod's nose. This is because plod represents engurland better than the protesters in the photos, who are cool britons and united kollectivers, and even up north in Scotland, plod is no different, there macPlod represents Scoaturland and if you get up his nose he can come out the back of your brain.

chose to ignore the popular upswelling of faith in the post augustinian borough of Hackney in it's review of mayday rallies worldwide, it also chose not to include the neo-german-national-socialist-party (NAZI for short) rally in Leipzig, on account a secret deal being done with the Vatican at the last moment to occult important issues of dogma, and background to modern social movements with a bit of blindspot on the holocaust in eastern germany from you.

sure that's cool enough, as Saint Precarious wrote in his work Summa Plucracia, "if thy wisheth to solve the dearth of labour thou must not - install a little man with a moustache and build roads with your hands and find a scapegoat, confiscate their property and burn them"

The works of the blessèd Precarious, as we know cover many tomes and volumes, and will soon thanks to a grant from the Louvre be placed online as part of their "apocryphal forgery and hagiagraphy" project.

Then we can all have a little book of the best quotes to bring to work!

For immediate diffusion.

We in the permenant and non-elected, self-appointed collective assembly of the order of hagiographers against precarity, learn with great sorrow of the exchanges between police, neo-nazi youth and radical lefties in Berlin and Leipzig yesterday.
Neither of these cities opted to join in the Mayday Mayday! Euro.reclaim Mayday project.
furthermore they are both very protestant, and historically have been very marxist. We suggest prayers for the over 60 young bolsheviks that are in custody in Leipzig, and that the police who used water cannon on these youths to stop them chanting anti-Schroeder slogans and throwing eggs will reflect on the error of their ways in thereafter allowing a 800 strong march by neo-NAZIs to rally in central Leipzig.
Let us make it very simple, Santa Precaria is here for everyone, and will help all lost on the way of XXI century social development to get to the end of the month without being doused in water, tear-gassed or hit on the head by a nazi skin-head.

We are asking for volunteers to travel on a mission to convert the heathen protestant marxists and nazi's of Liepzig, and are looking for the Vatican (since they speak german) to help out with the travel costs.

Santa Precaria, we are all precarious in a globalised world,
Santa Precaria we live in the blackmail of crap contracts, of privatisation / marketing of public services, corruption, the occupation of cities, of spaces, of the environment, the subversion of identities, of symbols, of effects.
Santa Precaria we live in a world paralysed by fear, wars, hunger and loss of hope.
Santa Precaria we live under the triumphalism of the Bush family, of fundamentalists, xenophobia and oppression.
But we do not allow ourselves to abandon the right to a future, the right to decide the future.

Santa Precaria do not abandon me to the occupied city.
Santa Precaria do not abandon me to the disappearance of natural spaces.
Santa Precaria do not abandon me to the farce of the €uropean constitution.
Santa Precaria do not abandon me to globalised capitalism.
Santa Precaria do not abandon me to crap contracts and precarity.
Santa Precaria do not abandon me to relocalisations.

Santa Precaria we supplicate for papers for all!
Santa Precaria we supplicate for equal working rights for all!
Santa Precaria we supplicate for the end of the neoliberal dream!
Santa Precaria we are everyone.
Mayday! Mayday!

Libera nos del Mal!
Libera nos del Capital!

Glory b 2 God, daddy, youngfella and ghostie as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be-
World Without End. Amen (& Awomen).

***(saint precaria is thought by tippy toppy hagiographers to be the same as saint precario, and to reflect a more womanly side of the intercessor, she's more popular in feminist BCN than Italy where the macho types use saint precario as title for the mythic defendor of precarious workers and families as they try and make ends meet)
