Uribe can not attend his meetings with EU leaders this week.

category international | eu | other press author Saturday February 05, 2005 20:42author by dr who Report this post to the editors

friends countrymen romans lend me your ears....

Uribe as you know is President of Colombia,
and has been very unpopular with us for a long time.

His most recently was blamed by Mr Chavez (who is generally in our good books) for an illegal military incursion into Venezualan territory, an event which caused everyone to go into a flap in that corner of the world.

Mr Uribe is presently in hospital.

He is suffering according to his government spokespeople from an acute case of labyrinthitis.

This in an infection of the inner ear, which can be caused by either bacteria or a virus and causes dizziness, loss of balance and other stuff.

Mr Uribe was due to meet Pressie ZP of España and the King and Queen of España next week and thereafter Pressie Chirac of France.

Mr Uribe will it is hoped when he recovers from his labyrinthitis find time to give Mr Chavez an ear, especially considering that the poor people of Columbia on the frontier with Venezuala are now without fuel, electricity and basic commodities and in great and most certainly unneccesary suffering.
