It's not CO2 that drives the climate, says astrophysicist Dr Henrik Svensmark. Its the Sun and cosmic rays. But you won't hear about this because only one viewpoint is now allowed in the pseudo-science of climate.

Bachelors Walk Massacre

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Wednesday July 28, 2004 21:46author by Pádraig Ó Ruairc - Noneauthor email flannbui at yahoo dot comauthor address -author phone 0863148496 Report this post to the editors

Anti War event to commerate 90th anniversary of British Army massacre in Dublin.

.

Ninety years ago on the 26th of July 1914 a unit of the Kings Own Scottish Borders opened fire on an unarmed group of Dublin civilians at Bachelors Walk killing four and wounding thirty seven. No member of the British army was ever brought to courtmartial over this massacre and the official explanation given for the incident was that the officer commanding's orders had been misinterpreted.
Sadly events like this are not limited to Irish history books since the 1st of May 2003 the British army in Iraq have shot dead 37 civilians in Iraq (Includeing an 8 year old girl) and in most cases no inquiries have been launched nor soldiers tried for their actions. A number of British soldiers charged with war crimes and the murder of civilians in Northern Ireland are currently serving in Iraq includeing The British Army commander in Iraq Michael Jackson who was second in command on Bloody sunday Derry 1972 when 13 civilians were shot dead during a civil rights protest. Guardsmen Wright and Fisher who were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in 1994 after the shooting of Belfast teenager Peter Mc Bride have also served with the British Army in Basra.

After 90 years be it Dublin, Belfast or Basra. Nothing has changed. The British army continue to murder with immunity and the relatives of their victims never see Justice done.

This Saturday to commerate the 90th anniversary of the Bachelors Walk Massacre and to highlight the criminal actions of the British Army in Iraq, there will be a small demonstration at Bachelors walk/ O connell Bridge at 1p.m. This is been organised by a group of young republicans / socialists and anti war activists from different political backgrounds independent republicans, The Conolly youth movement and some Labour youth members. (We also have had some contact with Sinn Féin and hope to have some Ógra S.F. members present.) We will be handing out leaflets detailing the British Army's actions in Iraq and will have a large banner out and some black flags. The event will be strictly non party political and party banners or newspapers wont be present. Any one who is interested in turning up to hand out some antiwar leaflets or help out should contact: Pádraig Ó Ruairc 086 3148496. We would appreciate the help.

Would it be possible to get someone from Indymedia down to take a few photos? J.D. if you are reading this I need your new phone number please call me.
