Dublin May Day March cancelled!

An absolute disgrace!
I was at the monthly delegates meeting of the Dublin Council of Trade Unions (DCTU), which takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 8pm in Liberty Hall, last Tuesday, March 9th, as the CPSU's An Post Branch Committee's delegate, where it was shamefully confirmed that the annual May Day Dublin march organised by the Dublin Council of Trade Unions on May Day, May 1st had been cancelled this year. The very flimsly 'excuse' given was as many had suspected, that Dublin city will be 'closed off' for Ahern and co's so-called "Day Of
Welcomes" on May 1st. And that instead they're all trooping off to the May Day march in Belfast. The whole way that it was handled was absolutely disgraceful. Many delegates last Tuesday night called for our annual May Day Dublin march to be held either on the Friday before May Day, or on the Saturday after May Day, or even to make it a proper community event, and have it in say Coolock or Tallaght, but the DCTU weren't interested at all. More likely that a lot of them union bureaucrats will be hob-nobbing it with
Ahern and McCreevy in the Park and the Castle! This is of course a shameful act of cowardice on the Dublin Council of Trade Unions' part. However there will be
a May Day march organised by the Another Europe Is Possible mobilising group this year, starting at 12 noon on Saturday, May 1st at the Central Bank, Dame Street, and marching to the Phoneix Park, which will
have a large Trade Union involvement, as well as other protests, direct actions, and events organised by Anarchist and
Liberitarian groups, together with a Reclaim The Streets (RTS) event, and a mass Critical Mass cycle ride no matter what the Dublin Council of Trade Unions say! Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame on you Dublin
Council of Trade Unions!
