but are they a radical alternative? Die Gruenen, Les Verts, the Green Party - the German, French and UK Green Parties, along with 29 other European Green parties, are now one party standing on one platform. This move comes ahead of the European Parliament elections in June, in which the Greens hope to make gains. The unification of the Greens into a continental fighting force will not be straightforward. Whilst they now have one party hymn (by film music composer Ennio Morricone) there are significant differences between the various national components, not least on the question of the EU itself and its forthcoming enlargement. |

It seems that they may have made a pragmatic choice that they can make more changes within the ring of power rather than heckling from the sideline. If you have to drop your line on some issues to get a broader consensus on others, so be it (no matter how hard it is on principle). thats politics init.
although i dont know anything about anything.
does not even dare to represent all _green_ opinion.
It is a mark of some serious negotiation and concensus building that Green Parties with such differing social policy outlook and history as those who form the new alliance, could come together.
They are a lot of people, do not think to reduce them to your local comhaontas glas.
Maybe the accusations made against the irish greens signal a need or a wish to build a more "left" green option, or more simply internalised "more left green" concerns in other "left parties.
And never ever understimate the green contigent in the european anarchist networks.
what do they say / forty shades of green?
"college dropouts from wealthy families "
I disagree. The Greens are all graduates. Just look at all those letters after their names. They all tend to be Architects for some reason. That's a 5 year course with high points and with no chance of a working classs person getting in.
"The SP is not a joke to the thousands of non payers of bin tax in this city."
I think you might find that thousands of non-payers are unaware of the SP.
The SP is not a joke to the thousands of non payers of bin tax in this city.
The Greens voted in and are in favour of bin tax including non collection, it is the Greens that are the joke.
....but not as big a joke as the Socialists.
no more please
the irish greens are middle class muppets.
the right winger richard greene was involved for ages and nobody spoke out.
their policies are paper dreams as they are unwilling to challenge the other parties lest they become too radical.
college dropouts from wealthy families and million dollar stock options.
in this case, greens aren't good for you.

Im more than tired of hearing the 'overthrow capitalism' dogma without any substance to its course. This 'one or the other' mentality is for the shelves.
