Deputy Assistant General Secretary went on to state that 'the Trade union Movement is disturbed and angry at the racist attacks being inflicted on minority groups within our society. Our presence at the Rally on 27th Jan should be seen as a clear expression of our disgust at these attacks and for our absolute support for the human rights of peoples of all nations'

'Our Movement has a proud record of supporting civil and human rights and we would wish to take this opportunity to call on all trade union members and their families to be present at the Rally on Tuesday'.

Barbara Muldoon {leading Northern Asylum Practitioner} stated ' this rally will give working class people along with the trade union movement, the minority ethnic support organisations and all others disgusted at these brutal attacks, the opportunity to take a united stand that will send out a collective message to the world {who many have and are focusing still on this situation} that working class people and the trade union movement stand shoulder to shoulder with the 'minority ethnic communities' in complete and united opposition to these racist attacks.

IRSP Attend Anti-Racist Rally at City Hall

North Belfast IRSP will attend today's (Tuesday) anti-racist demonstration
at Belfast City Hall.

Speaking before the rally, IRSP North Belfast representative Paul Little said:

"The IRSP believe that it is very important that all the residents of
Belfast show loudly and clearly that we reject totally the upsurge of
racist attacks across the city, especially in south Belfast. It appears
that, in South Belfast, loyalist paramilitaries have embarked on a
racist/sectarian campaign based on the premise that only WASP's--White
Anglo Saxon Protestants--can live in parts of south Belfast."

In conclusion, the IRSP representative said that it was, "imperative that
community groups in south Belfast and across the city rally together to
reject racism in all its forms."
