GLOBALISE RESISTANCE SEEKS SUPPORT AT EUROPEAN SOCIAL FORUM FOR MOBILISATIONS AGAINST EU MEETINGS IN IRELAND

BY GLOBALISE RESISTANCE NOV 12th 1PM

The second European Social Forum (ESF) is taking place in Paris this week. Last year it took place in Italy and it was from the peoples assembly at that ESF that the decision was taken to organise the February 15th International day of mobilisations against the War on Iraq. Hundreds of thousands of trade unionists, socialists, anti-capitalists, NGOs, peace activists, community groups and concerned citizens are meeting in Paris to discuss opposition to neo-liberalism, privatisation, war, environmental destruction and racism. There will also be a huge demonstration in Paris on Saturday for a Europe of social rights and without war.

There are almost a hundred Irish attending the Forum including members of Globalise Resistance, the Debt and Development Coalition, Irish Anti-War movement, Green Party, Sinn Fein, Socialist Workers Party, students and individuals.

Rory Hearne, Globalise Resistance activists said “Globalise Resistance activists will be seeking support from European activist networks for the mobilisations that we will be helping to organise against the high-level meetings of EU that will be held in Ireland. Particularly we are looking for the day of the launch of the new expanded EU in May in Dublin to be an international day of mobilisations. We oppose the EU that promotes privatisation, profit and war ahead of peoples social rights, pubic services, democracy and peace. We will also mobilise in Ireland around whatever calls for international mobilisations that come out from the people’s assembly on Sunday”

Globalise Resistance is organising an eye-witness report back meeting from Paris on Wednesday 19th at 7.30pm in the Teachers Club, Parnell Sq with Richard Boyd Barrett (IAWM) and Jean Sommers (Debt and Development) speaking. We will be discussing the outcomes of Paris and the mobilisations against EU meetings.

But the problem lies with an organisation giving the impression that they are leading the struggle. In which case it really is MobiLIES.

At the Dublin meetings for the bin tax campaign there have been activist meetings which have attempted to coordinate the campaign. Decisions have been taken on the basis of two delegates representing a particular area. SWP members have been at these meetings representing areas. (Its not difficult really). But when things start hotting up the campaign realises that those claiming to represent an area - don't.

Don't start me off on sectarianism. You call it sectarianism. From where I'm standing it looks like people are beginning to see the SWP for what they are. Charlatans.

what do u mean the communities that the swp represent, swp dont hold any city/county council seats.

you people seem adament to nit pick at just about everything the swp does?

whats wrong with the GR calling for mobilisation against EU sittings?
isn't better than saying nothing.

this site is getting worse and more sectarian by the day.

GR look to mobilise against EU in Dublin.
SWP look for people to mobilise for McCann in Derry.
IAWM look for people to mobilise in London against Bush next week.
SWP look to mobilise SIPTU members to vote for 'anti-bin tax' candidate

Funny when it came to the bin campaign they couldn't even mobilise the communities that they were 'representing'.
Catch yourselves on!!! Nobody takes the Hydra that is the SWP seriously anymore.
