The Muslim man who attacked Koran-burning protester Hamit Coskun with a knife has been spared jail after the judge said he "lost his temper". Hamit, meanwhile, remains in hiding, as concerns about two-tier justice grow.

Church leaders are too quick to condemn Tommy Robinson and the Unite the Kingdom march, says Chris Larkin. We don't know what Jesus would have made of our politics, but we can?t just assume he?d have been a Lib Dem voter.

Quick report on blockades around Dublin.

category dublin | bin tax / household tax / water tax | news report author Tuesday September 30, 2003 15:54author by All bins or No bins Report this post to the editors

First Fingal:

As usual the Council have been trying to avoid going into huge swathes of Fingal, knowing that they won't get their bin trucks back for some time.

Today two bin trucks wandered into working class areas and they are currently under solid blockades in West Dublin. They have been there all day and there is no sign of residents letting them go.

South Dublin:

The Council sent out a single truck to implement non-collection, the others were collecting all rubbish as normal.

The non-collection truck was hitting Knocklyon with inspectors preceding it with the red stickers. The South Dublin campaign quickly located the truck and placed it under a blockade.

The blockade lasted until a little before One this afternoon, when the bin workers gave a commitment to return to the depot for the rest of the day.

Scouts are out and about looking for any more sneaky attempts at non-collection.

Remember to watch out for anyone putting stickers on bins. If you see any remove the stickers and contact the campaign.

City: I don't have full details yet, but I have been informed that at least one solidarity blockade took place today.

he's working for the CC. Trolling around here for a while; a few faux-naive questions but seems to know a lot about what's going on. I'd not believe too much of what he says

A truck was held this morning in Baldoyle, the cops arrived and threaten arrest to those particpating under, as i understood, one of the traffic acts, the protesters stood aside and let it go. Yesterday a similiar situation (I wasn't there) occured in a different part of baldoyle.
