Church leaders are too quick to condemn Tommy Robinson and the Unite the Kingdom march, says Chris Larkin. We don't know what Jesus would have made of our politics, but we can?t just assume he?d have been a Lib Dem voter.

Against Eviction in Defence of Free Space.

category international | anti-capitalism | news report author Saturday September 20, 2003 14:46author by info space - space. Report this post to the editors

2004 = homes for people please and enough to live on as well would be nice.

We evict the insecurity of our living conditions.
We dislodge the Speculation of our living space.
We are occupying a thousand homes.

News from Barcelona.

2004

Homes for unsustainable citizens.
A cry against speculation in the Barcelona neighbourhood of "Virrei Amat".

More than 40 people are resisting "!Thousands of homes". The imediate eviction which followed the opening of these blocks of disused housing was illegal and without judicial order.
The site is owned jointly by the Municipal Authority and an Estate Agency. It is big, well approportioned, made up of good living space and units which in a better world would be considered homes for the poor.
But this city does not live in times of allocation
of social homes. This city prefers the model known to many Europeans of speculation and greed masquerading as "urban regeneration".

Thus is opened a space, another space, yet another space, to discuss this matter of great concern, to wonder how may we find homes if we may not find jobs, how may we find jobs if they do not pay us enough, how may we find homes to find space...
in the context of the Forum 2004
on sustainable development and world Peace.

Our application is completed.
The conveners have been informed what we want.

Visit the new space:
Turó de la Peira 51,
calle Sant Iscle,
metro Virrei Amat, L5

Proposed works in progress:
 Development of a map of empty homes and a guide to possible squats.
 Development of a map on repression and control in "Carcelona" the prisons of Barcelona.
 Workshops on re-appropriation against the insecurity of poverty.
 Creation of Space, space, more space, yet more spaces free.

More than this, yet more than space, we invite you wherever you may be to come to these free spaces and plan and think and do for yourselves.
