Just 58.3% of all pupils across the UK passed their maths GCSE this year, down from 59.5% last year and the lowest since 2013. But the percentage of students getting the highest grades was higher in free schools than other schools.

offsite link The Truth About Britain?s Wildfires Thu Aug 21, 2025 15:00 | Paul Homewood
It is simplistic to blame the recent spike in wildfires on climate change, writes Paul Homewood. A more likely cause is the rewilding of uplands, supposedly to cut carbon emissions, and poor management of forested land.

Lucy Connolly's jail sentence versus Ricky Jones's acquittal shows not two-tier justice but two-tier laws ? the system worked as intended, says Nick Rendell.

The Guardian, of all papers, has acknowledged that predictions about the disappearance of Arctic sea ice may ? just may ? have been exaggerated. Paging Gore Vidal: Can we have that prize back please?

George Monbiot did come up with a good idea which I think people should pick up on.

Apparently, the sum total of all debts owed by 3rd world countries to the 1st world is around double the total of all assets owned by all the banks in the world.

OK? So, if the 3rd world countries really got it together and co-ordinated a mass default on loan repayments they could bring the entire financial system crashing down. In short, 3rd world debtors could have really got the 1st world by the goolies, if they could only unite.

By threatening a mass default they could negotiate much more advantageous terms of trade for themselves.

See? That's the kind of self-help and iniative I approve of. Nothing is achieved on the streets.

More profitable plantations!

Happy smiling colonial natives now!

European agriculture stinks - we demand more golf courses and housing estates! (OK, so Monbiot might argue with that one, adding his addition "and wildlife reserves")

World Government Now - You Know it Makes Sense!

Bigger Cages! Longer Chains!
