Church leaders are too quick to condemn Tommy Robinson and the Unite the Kingdom march, says Chris Larkin. We don't know what Jesus would have made of our politics, but we can?t just assume he?d have been a Lib Dem voter.

Another People's Picnic at the Old Head of Kinsale

category cork | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday July 24, 2003 15:11author by Dan - Free the Old Head of Kinsale Report this post to the editors

The latest People's Picnic at the Old Head of Kinsale will be held this Sunday, 27th July at 2.00pm to highlight the long running campaign for the restoration of public access to the scenic Co. Cork headland.

As mentioned in previous Indymedia articles, public access to the Old Head of Kinsale has been enjoyed by generations of people from the local area, from Cork city and much further afield.

The People's Picnics have become an important focus of peaceful protest against the denial of public access to the Old Head of Kinsale.

Sunday's picnic begins around 2pm. A bus from Cork City will depart from Cork Opera House, Emmet Place at 12.30pm.

The Old Head is an area of spectacular beauty as well as an important historical site and an area with an abundance of flora and fauna. The Old Head is a recognised spot for watching whales, dolphins and other aquatic mammals.

Since the late 1990s access to the Old Head has been blocked off by a private company owned by the millionaire O'Connor brothers who built the exclusive Old Head Golflinks there in 1997.

The People's Picnic will be a fun event for people of all ages. You are encouraged to make up your own picnic, bring along musical instruments, colourful flags, etc.
