The Extreme Weather We?re Experiencing Is Not Man Made, According to the IPCC Sun Jul 28, 2024 07:00 | Mark Ellse
Day-to-day weather, with all its extremes, is "just weather", according to the IPCC. With their authority onside, we can shrug off the BBC's melodramatic climate reports and misinformation, says Mark Ellse.

The sweeping House of Commons reforms proposed by Green MP Ellie Chowns are evidence that the Mrs Dutt-Pauker types have moved from Peter Simple's columns into public life. We're in for a bumpy ride, says Sean Walsh.

Nach bhfuil anam nimheach agat.
Molaim sibh a chairde.
Nóta do Sheainín: A mhalairt ar fad atá fIor. Anam uasal, cróga atá igceist anseo.
Nach uafásach an rud é, a Sheainín, gur féidir leat a bheith chomh maslaitheach i dhá theanga. Scrúdaigh d'anam féin. Cén fáth a bhfuil tú de shíor ag baint úsáid as an Idilíne chun maslaí den saghas is gránna a chaitheamh in aghaidh muintir na síochána?
Ba mhaith liom go mór labhairt leat go pearsanta mar creidim go bhfuil rud éigin ag cur as duit, nach droch-dhuine thú, agus dá dtuigfeadh tú i gceart an fáth atá taobh thiar de na hagóidí seo go léir go mbeadh tú níos tuisciní agus - cá bhfios? - b'fhéidir ar thaobh na n-agóidí.
Seo cuid den obair a dhean an A-10 in Iraq.

The Observer
It was Rahad's turn to hide. The nine-year-old girl found a good place to conceal herself from her playmates, the game of hide and seek having lasted some two hours along a quiet residential street in the town of Fallujah, on the banks of the Euphrates. But while Rahad crouched behind the wall of a neighbour's house, someone else - not playing the game - had spotted her, and her friends; someone above. The pilot of an American A-10 'tank-buster' aircraft, hovering in a figure of eight. He was flying an airborne weapon equipped with some of the most advanced and accurate equipment for 'precision target recognition' in the Pentagon's arsenal. And at 5.30pm on 29 March, he launched his weapon at the street scene below.
The 'daisy-cutter' bounced and exploded a few feet above ground, blasting red-hot shrapnel into the walls not of a tank but of houses. Rahad Septi and 10 other children lost their lives; another 12 were injured. Three adults were also killed.
gurbh maith agaibh! Beir bua!
The A 10 does not fire the daisy cutter. It is dropped from a C130..
It does not bounce...
agus na daoine i bhíonn i mbun agóid. Chonaic me bhur leithead ag freastal ar an Ollscoil agus is fuath liom sibh. Níl splanc céille agaibh, ní chaitheann sibh nóiméad ag cíoradh an cheist ach bheith amuigh ag screadadh in aghaidh an 'establishment' mar a cheapann sibh é.
D'anam don diabhal a mhac agus gach cumannach nimheach in éineacht leat go hIfreann fuar libh.
Cead cainnte agat labhairt mar sin - go hanathnaid, ár ndó.
