Anti-Fascist Action Ireland will be hosting a weekend of events to mark our 21st birthday on the 6th to the 7th of October in Dublin City.

Saturday:

Public meeting on the future of militant anti-Fascism in Europe with speakers from England, Denmark, Ireland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland and Sweden. Main Hall, Teachers Club (36 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1), 3 pm.

Concert with leading Irish, Scottish and English ska, reggae, punk and Oi! bands and DJs.
Venue: The Grand Social (35 Lower Liffey St, Dublin 1), 8 pm - 3 am.

We have confirmed over 100 international guests so far from Glasgow, Huddersfield, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Brighton, Leeds, Naples, Rome, Venice, Toulouse, Berlin, Hamburg, Stockholm, Malmo, Copenhagen, Split, Bilbao, Oslo and Prague .

Saturday afternoon

Details: Public meeting on the future of militant anti-Fascism in Europe with speakers from England, Denmark, Ireland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland and Sweden.

“By studying the development of fascism in other countries, AFA in Ireland has been successful to date, in suppressing fascist groupings before they can get off the ground. Across Europe, anti-Fascists are trying to adapt their tactics to combat an ever changing far-right.

The rise of the EDL and its offshoots in the UK has led to the birth of a new movement of anti-fascists there with the state responding with the imprisonment of six activists. In Greece, the fascist Golden Dawn party have gained unprecedented electoral success; Italy has seen alarming growth of the autonomous nationalist organisation, Casa Pound and Poland, along with the rest of Eastern Europe is experiencing the continued growth of neo-Nazi hooligans.

As part of AFA Ireland’s 21st birthday celebrations, we are bringing together activists from Ireland, England, Greece, Italy, Poland, Sweden and Germany to discuss the reaction to their domestic fascist threats and in the face of these, the future for militant anti-fascism across Europe. As well as info-sharing, this meeting will serve to build closer links between activists over for the weekend.”
