At both venues, the film makers, Mike Wayne & Deirdre O’Neill will be introducing and talking about their film. “Listen to Venezuela” (125 minutes). Developers plan to build a housing estate right in the middle of Sligo's deciduous forest. This would endanger the habitats of many rare and protected species of plants and animals and take away the magic of the forest which has provided inspiration for so many, including W.B. Yeats. In light of the scandal of sexual abuse of children and subsequent cover-up that continues daily to haunt the Catholic Church, this reflection looks at what what living out the true message of Christianity looks like, not a Christianity that hangs on to the survival of an institution corrupted by wealth, power and status, temptations which Jesus rejected in the desert but ultimately have gotten the better of men's hearts who pose as pillars of Christian morality. Perhaps the time for talking about a renewal of the Church should stop and some of that renewal starts now...getting back to teaching and doing the basics..taking courage from the early Christians and those who have faithfully and humbly tried in the modern time to live out this new concept of living as taught and lived by Jesus. read full story / add a comment

On the evening of Tuesday 30th March the IPSC in Dublin will commemorate Palestinian Land by holding a solidarity picket outside the GPO on O'Connell Street from 5 - 7pm. This year we will be marking the continued Palestinian resistance to Israel's ongoing ethnic cleansing and land theft operations in Palestine. We ask you to join us for a couple of hours to stand in solidarity with the residents of Sheikh Jarrah, Bil'in, Nil'in, Neve Tirtze, Iraq Bourin, ‘Awarta (the latter two villages saw the murder of 4 Palestinians by the Israeli army over the weekend) and the many other towns and villages resisting colonisation by the Israeli State. read full story / add a comment ![]()
