A Central Queensland family wonders at the priorities of a local high school after their child collapsed on parade.

While the family was subjected to a two week period of imtimidation by the School administration at the start of the year over uniform breaches, they wait to be informed of their childs fainting fit some five days after the event.

In Febuary this year, the child and the parents were informed that it would be unacceptable for the child to attend school wearing basic black shorts rather than the regular uniform royal blue. The child was threatened with disciplinary action for refusing to wear school supplied clothing and had been forced to sit out a lesson because of the uniform breach. read full story / add a comment

There is no doubt that one of Australias’ greatest shames is the Stolen Generation of Indigenous Children. While the debate over that sad part of our past rages, another Stolen Generation is happening under our noses and we aren’t seeing it.

This new generation of children raised outside their family is not restricted to Aboriginal children but is applied equally to all children across the board.

The Department of Child Safety has been given open range to exercise the Child Protection Act 1999 without any recourse left open to the parents of Queensland. read full story / add a comment

Andorra is a small country, official language catalan, which sits in the pyrennes between Catalonia and France.
It's a great place to hide papyrus, do banking, buy cheap tobacco, ski, and pick wild flowers.

Today it's 16,022 registered voters have been called to exercise their democratic right to vote, regardless of ethnicity (they're all andorran), gender, creed, in secret, and they don't get their thumbs inked, so you don't know if an andorran has voted by looking at their paw afterwards. read full story / add a comment

CUENCA, ECUADOR – By a unanimous vote Ecuador's lawmakers removed President Lucio Gutierrez from office Wednesday and replaced him with Vice President Alfredo Palacio, following days of intensifying street protests.

While the focus of media attention has been on the capital city of Quito, the southern city of Cuenca has been in open rebellion against its former president for the past week. The discontent had been simmering for some time but in the weeks and days before the ouster of Gutierrez it reached a boiling point. Daily, students manned street blockades and fought pitched battles with police over control of the streets while across town the main park overflowed every night with a diverse array of people who had come to protest the president and government. read full story / add a comment
