Cork people have always tipped the cap to English Royalty.

The town of Charleville in County Cork is named after an English king.
(King Charles 1.)
He hated everything Irish..especially Cork.

"Rath Luirc" is the original Irish name.

The local Cork people prefer the name imposed by their English enslavers.

Reliable sources have informed me that the term 'jackeen', oft labelled at those from the capital city, actually originates from Cork whereby those Irishmen and women who loved playing the role of peasant and subject would cry and wave their handkerchiefs in sorrow at the Union flag adorning the jackmast of whichever HMS ship was leaving the bay.
