What are your hope and dreams for 2025? Top of Charlotte Gill's list is a DOGE U.K. to bring Elon Musk's war on public sector waste to this country ? and she's already started putting one together.

A new hate crime law came into effect in Ireland yesterday. In spite of the worst clauses in the hate crime bill being stripped out, it's still a dark day for free speech in Ireland, says Frederick Attenborough.

Oxfordshire's green lunatics are at it again, says Ben Pile. Councils which you would think had enough on their plate trying to stop drug and rape gangs are instead spending taxpayers' money on sucking CO2 out of the air.

Hiroshima Day/Nagasaki Day Resistance to Nuclear Weapons

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Wednesday August 11, 2010 20:41author by Solidarity Report this post to the editors

There were several acts of nonviolent resistance to nuclear weapons during the past week's anniversaries of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

At the annual Catholic Worker sponsored Hiroshima/Nagasaki
commemoration vigil at Vandenberg Air Force Base on Saturday, August
7, seven people were arrested: five for crossing the line, two for ban
and bar violations. The five that crossed the line to "pray for peace"
included, Rev. Louie Vitale, OFM, Rev. Steve Kelly, SJ, and Jeff
Dietrich, David Omondi, and Rebecca Casas of the Los Angeles Catholic
Worker. The two arrested for a ban and bar violation included, Dennis
Apel, of the Guadalupe Catholic Worker, and Mike Wisniewski, of the
Los Angeles Catholic Worker. All were cited and released at Ryon Park
in Lompoc, about 10 miles from the base. A court date is forthcoming.
