Government Attack Community Employment

Lone Parents and People with Disabilities on Community Employment schemes fight for equality

The Government is proposing to abolish lone parents and disability payments for CE workers, even thought workers in the private and public sector will continue to receive them.

The removal of welfare entitlements will have a major impact on staffing levels and the sustainability of community projects. In particular, Community Childcare will be severely impacted as 25% of staff are CE, with a high proportion dependent on welfare allowances. The loss of skilled CE workers will inevitable have a sever consequences for community services and programmes.

Its time for CE workers to get up and fight for the right to work. These proposed cuts would be devastating for CE workers and for the community as a whole. It would deny CE workers the opportunity to seek training, education and to improve their lives. It would also impact on Community projects which rely on CE workers to deliver vital services.

instead of 'demonising' some of the persons involved in C.E. schemes perhaps an urgent

investigation should begin into the 'cliques' who run these schemes , i happen to know of at least one area of concern where most of 'clique members' have overstayed their welcome by
continuing to 'help the community' (sic) way above their allocated time courses of 3 years .

This tecnique involves the 'its not what you know but who brigade' where the bullies run the
schemes on a 'My terms & conditions' , and well they know it .
