British Army recruiting through MTV

category national | miscellaneous | press release author Monday November 16, 2009 14:38author by Republican Network for Unity Dublin - Republican Network for Unityauthor email rnudublin at gmail dot com Report this post to the editors

One of the worlds biggest media and music corporations, MTV, is actively recruiting for the British Army in Britain and in Ireland, MTV UK and 'Ireland' which supposedly comprises of the corporations branch in Britain and Ireland, is using a television and internet advert campaign to recruit its viewers into the ranks of the British Army.

One of the worlds biggest media and music corporations, MTV, is actively recruiting for the British Army in Britain and in Ireland, MTV UK and 'Ireland' which supposedly comprises of the corporations branch in Britain and Ireland, is using a television and internet advert campaign to recruit its viewers into the ranks of the British Army,

This is alarming as MTVs core viewership is mostly young people under the age of 25, and with no signs in the global recession letting up and MTV being one of the most popular television stations among the worlds youth, it is clear the British Army is exploiting these aspects to recruit impressionable and naive young people into its structures,

This is unfortunate as currently the British government is involved in imperialist conquest and military occupations all around the world, including Iraq, Afganistan and the North of Ireland,
It is clear the British Army wishes to use young people as cannon fodder in these shameful and unjust wars, it is considerably shameful that the British Army in conjunction with MTV would attempt to recruit impressionable Irish youth into its ranks, considering Britains occupation of the Northern 6 counties,

The adverts show scenrios that would be appealing popular to young people such as nightclubs try to show parrells to British army recruits training in areas that bear similarities to Afganistan or Iraq, which Britain currently occcupy and have been responsible for countless deaths of cilivians, having brought choas and instabilty to these proud nations.

RNU oppose British Army recruitment in Ireland, and the use of popular media outlets by the British army to recruit naive and impressionable youth, most of whom are desparate due to the economic recession that is gripping most of the world,

We ask everyone to boycott MTV and all its sister companies such as Nickolodeon, VH1.
Plans are underway to oppose these moves.
