Report Of I.C.T.U Protest Tullamore, Co. Offaly

Press Release/ Preas ráiteas
Republican Network for Unity
Kildare Cumman

The People Have Spoken, Loud And Clear!

Across the country today over 200,000 protesters at eight different areas took to the streets against the in-justice been faced by thousands of people across the country. The Republican Network for Unity Kildare Cumann attended one of the protests in Tullamore County Offaly. Approximately 1200-1500 protesters from Trade unions such as, SIPTU, TEEU and the protest organisers the ICTU, to Political groupings such as Provisional Sinn Fein and The Workers Party, as did ordinary working class people who joined together to voice our concerns.

Republican Network for unity joined the march with the Green Isle strikers of Green Isle Foods in Naas Co. Kildare who are currently facing their own battle for justice. The march started at the County Hall at approximately 2.30pm and protesters lead by a piper marched the half a mile journey to Tullamore Town Square. Representatives from all Unions spoke about the in-justice and disgraceful circumstances ordinary working class people are facing in Ireland today, issues such as health, education, jobs and the 54 million euro been forked out to Bankers instead of facing these problems head on.

The Rally lasted about ninety minutes and as the protest winded up the loud cheers clearly marked a significant day in the fight for justice and equality for working class people.
