Legalised Media Bias. New 'guidelines' on Lisbon ll.

category international | eu | other press author Thursday September 24, 2009 16:15author by paul o tooleauthor email pauljotoole at eircom dot net Report this post to the editors

Dangerous times ahead.....
The Broadcast Comission of Ireland have said there is no owness to enforce an even time on media for coverage of the Lisbon campaign.

In a move which begs explanation the BCI have ruled that broadcasters are free to determine how much time they allow to either side of the debate on Lisbon. This is an anti-democratic move which shoots straight at the heart of fairness.
What follows is a letter from the chairman of the IBI,(independent broadcasters of Ireland) , who welcomes the move and the de-regulation.
This is a most frightening move if you believe in democracy and fairness and the freedom of expression.
