offsite link GCSE Pass Rate For English and Maths Lowest in Decade Thu Aug 21, 2025 17:00 | Toby Young
Just 58.3% of all pupils across the UK passed their maths GCSE this year, down from 59.5% last year and the lowest since 2013. But the percentage of students getting the highest grades was higher in free schools than other schools.

It is simplistic to blame the recent spike in wildfires on climate change, writes Paul Homewood. A more likely cause is the rewilding of uplands, supposedly to cut carbon emissions, and poor management of forested land.

Lucy Connolly's jail sentence versus Ricky Jones's acquittal shows not two-tier justice but two-tier laws ? the system worked as intended, says Nick Rendell.

The Guardian, of all papers, has acknowledged that predictions about the disappearance of Arctic sea ice may ? just may ? have been exaggerated. Paging Gore Vidal: Can we have that prize back please?

As Director of Public Prosecutions, Keir Starmer urged restraint when it came to prosecuting people for social media posts. Why, then, was the book thrown at Lucy Connolly?

Foie Gras: Pearl Brasserie Week of Action Mon. 10th - Sat. 15th August

category dublin | animal rights | event notice author Friday August 07, 2009 00:00author by Laura Broxson - National Animal Rights Associationauthor email naracampaigns at gmail dot comauthor address PO Box 11019, Dublin 2 Report this post to the editors

It's time to get the Pearl Brasserie foie gras free!

Hi,

Instead of the usual weekly events, we'll be having a special "Pearl Brasserie Week of Action", with protests every night that they are open next week, to put pressure on the restaurant to stop serving foie gras. We've been protesting this restaurant since April 2008 - it's time to show them just how serious we are about this campaign!

We realise that most people won't be able to make it in every night, but if you could commit to coming even two nights of the week, we'd really appreciate it.

WHEN: 7.30pm - 9pm, every night from Mon. 10th - Sat. 15th August

WHERE: The Pearl Brasserie (20 Merrion Street Upper, Dublin 2)

Let's get them to finally go foie-gras-free!

Chill out and get a grip on yourself please.
If you have solid evidence of hypocricy then show it (I know you don't)
You could be thinking of another group....?
But please slow down and get a grip on the facts before posting such awful comments about very genuine and committed people!

Wayne, I don't know what your problem is - or who you believe is shopping in Fallon & Byrne (because members of OUR group certainly aren't), but you really need to calm yourself down (and perhaps stop stalking the wrong animal rights activists?).

We don't believe in jeopardising campaigns, which is why we've entered into talks with the management of Fallon & Byrne, to give them a chance. These things take time - much like the anti-fur campaign at Brown Thomas.

Maybe you are unable to grasp the concept of running a professional and effective campaigns? Otherwise you wouldn't confuse practical tactics with "selling out". But if you think you could achieve better, then please do go ahead!

Feel free to monitor our progress, but don't spend your time stalking us or trolling - do something that actually matters.

Negotiating!? Well you havn't got very far-Lets just be honest about it-you are not happy to protest at a shop where you and members of your group shop at? I was thinking of joining up with you guys as I was impressed by a protest you had in the docklands but the camp I belong to is the "NO NEGOTIATION" one so I don't think I would fit in well with "sell outs" and let me put in on record I will be monitoring your "progress" with fallon and byrne A SHOP WHICH DISGRACEFULLY SELLS FOIE GRAS.

We are currently negotiating the foie gras issue with Fallon & Byrne, and therefore have halted protests - for now anyway.

And although this should be obvious, we would never shop in any store that we are protesting, boycotting, or have issues with. We are not hypocrites in this group!

Leave it to NARA to pave the way for Animal RIghts in Ireland, when theres something new to be done, they are always on it. Their website is proof of all that they do.
Foie Gras should not be allowed in this country.
