Would it be fair to say that this protest is over ?

author by Tara Tara Tarapublication date Fri Feb 27, 2009 22:42author address author phone Report this post to the editors

No, it would be more fair to say that the protest is escalating once again . In these times of economic uncertaintainty - to put it mildly- it is more imperative than ever to raise the issue of how the M3 through the Valley is totally wrong in Every Way!

Once you have paid your Double Tolls daily on the M3 and, please do factor in the fines- estimate €50m or more for breaching EU directives that will be imposed upon the Irish people-and will have to be PAID, (thanks to the Govt that led us into this mess) how can Any of it be justified?

Will the people stand for it, or, will they now stand up to be counted and demand something better ?

I am appealing to the Purses- seeing as the destruction of our heritage and culture seems to have reckoned little.

I am guessing that most Irish people would rather have properly functioning schools, hospitals, etc than more needless Motorways, am I wrong?

I dont think so.

Because there is a better way!

In Navan the Pixies took to the streets as part of the St Pats Parade. Colouful and musical, no one expected what was to unfold in front of the Viewing Box. Here the Pixies, some dressed as Skeletons lay down draped with a mock road over them and asked the crowd for a minutes silence for our lost Heritage. Everyone was stunned- especially the Mayor who looked on in disgust and was heard to say
"Oh look there go the Tara people protesting again".
For others in the crowd the spectacle was a powerful statement highlighting the destruction and desecration of Tara on the feast day of Ireland's Patron Saint. A Tara Performance Tent showcasing local musical talent along with Poetry recited by Kyrie Murray Tara's Bard also took pride of place on the day in addition to a Crafts and Information Stall which was kept busy with a lot of enquiries throughout.

Go Pixies!

Absolutely fantastic! I have watched it over and over and must congratulate everyone on such a "stunning" presentation at the Parade. I have no doubt that the spectators were touched by the performance. This was a powerful demo/protest and a coup for the Pixies who continue to highlight the ongoing destruction and corruption.

The skeleton idea and the mock road is inspired and I would like to link it to this video below. We will be resuming on the ground collection of signatures for the reburial petition shortly, volunteers welcome.

Well done all! x

Video by nomoredramas:

Yesterday a Fancy Dress Digger Diving Action took place in the vicinity of Fairyhouse and then later at Rath Lugh. Between both they managed to delay work by about 2 hours.

In this video the guy wearing the red wig was assaulted having been punched 3 times by workers as they refuelled one of the diggers which he was occupying. He was later assaulted by another 3 guys ( the 3 Ms), dragged and punched to the ground again.

You will also see the Protesters being sprayed by a Bowser and unknown to the Driver he was observed by Gardai who told the Protesters " That's assault" before they followed the man and cautioned him.

Video of the Shell Protest against the imprisonment of Maura Harrington Sat 14th March Dublin which was well attended by Tara people in solidarity.

There is also a tribute here to the brave Squeek who went down the Tunnel at Rath Lugh a year ago. A party was held there in her honour that night. She is seen in this video Firedancing :)

Enjoy.
