The European Mobility Week is an international event which involves over 2,000 towns and cities throughout Europe to highlight the necessity for changes in behaviour in relation to mobility and in particular the use of the private car.

European Mobility Week is a time to think about how you travel and what impact that has on your health, your finances and the Environment. You are invited to experiment with using transport options such as walking, cycling, public transport, car-sharing club or lift-sharing for your trips to the city centre.

In Cork City a range of even are organised by Cork City Council Traffic Division with various local partners and financial support from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. This year’s theme is “Clean Air for All”, a topic of particular concern for citizens today.

The Mobility Week’s comprehensive programme includes air quality awareness campaign, cycling workshops, free health screenings, movie night, free bike training course for families, sustainable transport exhibition, temporary pedestrian city centre and showcase of electric bicycles and scooters.

Highlight of the week is the “Rebel Pedal!” bicycle parade and picnic party on Saturday 20th September – at least 1,000 cyclists are expected on the streets of Cork!
