Fiesta de Palabras - Spanish Themed Festival of Words - with writers reading from works based in Spanish speaking parts of the world. (To help you get into the mood for Summer Holidays - or ease out of holidays already taken!)

Featured readers are John Liddy, Kieran Furey, Rosiin Tierney, Anna Maria Crowe Serrrano, Oran Ryan and Donal Moloney

John Liddy was born in Youghal, Co. Cork but grew up in Limerick. He is the founding editor along with Jim Burke of The Stony Thursday Book (1975 -) and has edited bilingual issues with his brother Liam and Miguel Ortega. He is a teacher and librarian and lives in Madrid.

John's publications are Boundaries (1974), The Angling Cot (1991), Song of the Empty Cage (1997), Wine and Hope (1999), Cast-A-Net (2003) and The Well: New and Selected Poems (2007). Forthcoming are La Barca de la Arena (a translation by Francisco Rivero in Spanish of The Angling Cot) and Poisonous Pleasure (a translation by John Liddy from Tosigo Ardento by José Maria Álvarez).

Róisín Tierney was born in Dublin in 1963. She lived in London for 20 years and is currently living and teaching in Spain (Granada). She was shortlisted for the 2006 Strokestown Poetry Prize and won joint 2nd prize in the 2007 Brendan Kennelly Poetry Competition. Other prizes include a Poetry Life and a Bridport Prize in 2002 and an OXFAM Literature Poetry Prize in 2004. She was one of the poets reading in this year's Poetry Ireland Introductions Series in June. Her work appears in three pamphlets;

UNFOLD, Gobby Deegan's Riposte, (Donut Press) and Ask For It By Name (Unfold Press)

ANAMARÍA CROWE SERRANO is Irish and lives in Dublin with her family. She has worked at Dublin City University and in Trinity College Dublin. She has published several translations of poetry including Valerio Magrelli's Instructions on How to Read a Newspaper, for whose translation she won 3rd prize with Riccardo Duranti at the BCLA/BCLT Translation Competition in 2002. In 2003, she published her first collection of short stories, Dall'altra parte (Leconte) and a one-act play, The Interpreter (Delta3 Edizioni). With Riccardo Duranti she has written Behind the Tapestry, a historical novel on the life of Thomas Shelton, the first translator of Don Quijote. Her latest collection of poems, Paso Doble, written as a poetic dialogue with the Italian poet Annamaria Ferramosca, was published in March 2006 by Empiria.

Kieran Furey was born in Curraghroe, Co Roscommon, 1953. Educated Summerhill College, Sligo and University College, Galway. Poet. Lived in Dublin for 15 years, self-publishing over 20 books of short stories, satire, poetry and travel material. Has spent 6 years in Latin America, and traveled widely elsewhere. In 2006 he was the overall winner of Féile Filíochta. He now lives in Longford.

Oran Ryan is a Dublin born and bred poet, novelist, playwright and screenwriter. He has been writing full time for then years. During that time his poems, short stories and literary criticism have been published in many journals worldwide, including Poetry Ireland Review, Iota, Fire and Scrawl. In 2006 his novels The Death of Finn and Ten Short Novels by Arthur Kruger were published by Seven Towers, to critical acclaim.

Donal Moloney is a Waterford born Dublin based novelist and short story writer.
