Within the next few months you will be asked to vote in a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. This is a new European Treaty to replace the European Constitution which was rejected by the people of Holland and France. You can feel privileged as the Irish people are the only people given a vote on this treaty. The European leaders dare not ask those who rejected it already to vote again – for fear that they might reject it again.

The manner in which the EU is seeking to have this treaty accepted without a vote in all but one EU country shows how undemocratic the EU has become. Worse still this treaty will make it even more undemocratic.

We believe the Lisbon Treaty should be rejected:

• It will make the EU more undemocratic and give you less control over vital decisions that affect your life.

• It will increase the militarisation of the EU and undermine our neutrality.

• It will lead to further privatisation of public services including health and education. It will create a Europe committed to the free market and competition and restrict the power of member states acting to defend the public sector and the welfare of citizens.

If you want to know more about this important issues or you want to get involved in the campaign against the Lisbon Treaty come to our public meeting.

Below are the two key sentences of the amendment which you will be asked to put into the Irish Constitution on Thursday 12 June 2008.

"The State may ratify the Treaty of Lisbon signed at Lisbon on the 13th Day of December 2007,and may be a member of the European Union established by virtue of that Treaty. No provision of this {Irish} Constitution invalidates Laws enacted, acts done or measures adopted by the State that are necessitated by membership of the European Union refered to in this section, from having the force of Law in the State.."-The amendment that you are being asked to put into the Irish Constitution in the June referendum.

One thing this E.U.Constitution called the Lisbon Treaty does is copperfasten the December 2007 Laval/Vaxholm judgement of the E.U. Court of Justice, which makes it illegal for Governments or Trade Unions to enforce pay standards higher than the minimum wage for migrant workers. At the same time Lisbon would give the EU full control of immigration policy {Art.79 TFEU].

This combination threatens the pay and working conditions of large nimbers of Irish People. A new Treaty Protocol is neede to set the Laval judgement aside.

It will give the EU power to impose its taxes directly on us.

Besides the above, this Treaty which is the EU Constitution dressed up will overule the Irish Constitution ,period.

After 800 Years of brutality from our English neighbours we suceeded to obtain a draft called Bunreacht, by the People, for the People.

If 'the People' are hoodwinked into into handing over the ' hard fought for freedom' by voting for this Tyrannical
Fascist new world order plan for GLOBAL UNION through the ratification of this EU , it will perhaps take another 800 years or so to have any form of freedom.

This Treaty walks us and 500million other People , (who do not have the privilage of a Referendum like us) into a minefield.

They even have a Death Penalty for People who may be regarded a rioters on the Streets.

This Treaty dressed up EU Constitution is refered to as 'the no turnig back Treaty' in inner circles.

Too many People see Economic growth as the be all and end all of life.
With threats of downturn,Food shortages and Water rationing being mentioned to beat us all into submission and obedience to the Global Masters, it is handy to remember that we can't
eat Money - Notes-
worthless pieces of Paper.

We simply can't afford to vote No, now that we are facing a godawful economic downturn - we will depend on the E.U. as much as we ever did in the Bad Old Days of "tighten your belt" that are coming around again. Even the food in Dunnes Stores, basic as it is, has risen drastically in price over the past few months.

Perhaps the answer in the long term would be for the Western European countries including Ireland to secede from the present EU and form our own Western European Union.

Bertie Ahern is telling the truth when we says that we face economic disaster if we vote No. Thanks to his government's waste of the massive financial resources it gained in the Celtic Tiger years.

We have to face facts, we have to keep our feet on the ground. For the working and welfare classes in local authority housing the rent forms are around again, this time of the year, when the bureaucrats already have large rent increases planned for us, while the middle classes are being wiped out through mortgage interest increases.

In any case a Yes vote tends to favour the poorer East European EU countries, and that is one reason why I am flabbergasted that the Left advocates a No vote.

Also if the Lisbon Treaty is passed, Ireland would have to sign all the human rights conventions and agreements our governments have ignored down through the years. What's wrong with that ?

So what if the rumour is true that bertie is to get a top EU job if Lisbon is passed here, that's a Begrudgers vote !

Anyway he would do a damn sight better for the ordinary man and the little woman that the likes of Peter Sutherland or Charlie McCreevy.

And let's face it, who here gives a damn about the Big Boys having to pay more corporation tax ?

And I see that Libertas leaflet putting it about that Yes to Lisbon will allow Abortion and Euthanasia in Ireland - now what true leftist could possibly stand behind such a dirty argument by Libertas against a woman's natural right to choose ?

I see we're kowtowing to the big battalions of the I.F.A. and the Big Ranchers in our opposition to Lisbon too. We're in with The Wrong Crowd !

That's why I am going to remain a genuine Socialist and Vote Yes.
