On the fifth year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, Brian Gray’s film offers an intimate portrayal of peace activist Mary Kelly, her radical action of attacking a US Navy plane in Shannon airport and her subsequent legal trials. Filmed over two and half years the film journeys with Mary Kelly following her deportation from inside the Church of Nativity siege in Bethlehem in 2002. On January 29th 2003 six weeks prior to the invasion of Iraq Mary Kelly disabled a US Navy plane in Shannon airport with a four foot axe in an attempt to stop it flying to Iraq. This is a remarkable story one woman’s struggle at taking a stand, something which she has believed in for almost 30 years at tremendous cost to herself and her family. |
