George Orwell himself is being cancelled, says Paul Sutton. In a conversation with Oxford Literature postgraduate students, it became clear that the great opponent of authoritarianism was no longer welcome.

Keir Starmer says he will never withdraw from the ECHR because there is "no need" and Rishi Sunak did not disagree, despite it being the reason he failed to stop the boats. Nigel Farage says it's time to ask the people.

A Swiss girl has been been taken into care because her parents stopped her taking puberty blockers, breaching a ban on conversion therapy. Is this what Labour means by a "full, trans-inclusive ban on conversion practices"?

The West's headlong rush to jettison fossil fuels and hit 'Net Zero' CO2 emissions is impoverishing us while enriching China, which is ramping up its coal-fired industry to sell us all the 'green' technology.

Women's Updates on the 16 Day Campaign

category international | crime and justice | other press author Friday November 16, 2007 13:05author by C Murray Report this post to the editors

November 25th-December the 10th: Stop Violence aaginst Women.

The Sixteen Day Campaign for stopping Violence Against Women is set for the 25th November
to the Tenth of December 2007. Lip Service and Tokenism abound here, but it is a period
that internationally women address Safety, Violence, Rape, Women's Aid and of course, how
our divided societies create a wealth class of pseudo-feminism and an opposing class
of community activism based wholly in gendered stereo-typing and money, or to be politically
correct about it how we make our daughters second class citizens by ignoring their Basic Rights.

16 Day Campaign

In Ireland a huge amount of cash was given to the setting up of COSC by Minister Mc Dowell
there has been no up-date on the issue since the DOJ (http://www.justice.ie) encountered the
wrath of the VAW campaign, which occured just before the General Election this year.

The accompanying press Release and Photograph involved 3 male TD's and one Woman,
Minister for Agriculture Mary Coughlan.

I Sometimes think that Irish people believe that its not polite to talk about Physical Violence
but Last year Paula Geraghty did a wonderful Photo Essay on the Ringsend Refuge and the
Womens Aid Awareness Campaign.
