Nazis kill anarchist in Siberia

category international | anti-capitalism | other press author Tuesday July 24, 2007 12:26author by kbranno Report this post to the editors

"In the early morning of 21st July, neo-nazi skinheads launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on an anti-nuclear protest camp in Angarsk, Siberia, Russia. The nazis violently attacked activists in their sleeping bags and tents with iron rods, knives and air pressure guns. 21 year old Ilya Borodaenko from Nachodka suffered a head-fracture during the attack and later died in hospital from his injuries. At least nine others have been reported to be seriously injured, one of which has had both their legs broken. Tents were set on fire and several belongings were stolen."

The camp started last week and is aimed at protesting against a planned centre of uranium enrichment in Angarsk. Ever since the arrival of the activists, the police have tried to intimidate them and have entered the camp in an attempt to gather information about planned actions. The organisation who planned the camp, the 'Ecological Wave of Baikal', had planned various rallies in the surronding area to inform locals about the plans and drum up support for the campaign.

Financial help and other forms of solidarity are urgently needed. Contact xmakimax (at) gmail.com or ogopogos (at) gmail.com if you are able to offer some

I'd love to say someday we will list our dead. But I know in my heart that day won't come because our dead aren't listed. After years of interneting for the libertarian left and our friends I've only seen a few monuments raised to our dead. They are for the most part uninspiring rocks or plaques which fall short of palimpsepts and mark more a yearning for recognition than a milestone of acknowledgement. Our dead are lumped together with others & for some reasons continue to be polemical and controversial long long after any putrefaction of their remains merits dishonour. The last such memorial I brought attention to was raised on a traffic island, a roundabout to be precise in a northern Italian town to ask whomever could cross the traffic to remember the two anarchists murdered for their agitation & it is said their ethnicity in Chicago in the 1920's. But even in their death and moviemaking theit ethnicity plays a part - there seems to be no such thing as simply a murdered anarchist. http://indymedia.ie/article/81649#comment187803

Ilya Borodaenko, the man whose murder cries for attention in the report above is not going to get a stone yet. Oh yes - you can send money to the group more easily than you will change a bag of sterling coins because the Eurozone account is in Dublin - Bank of Ireland, IBAN IE91 BOFI 9000 9240 413547, SWIFT/BIC BOFIIE2D

But we need more than a police report and local telly reporting the attackers taunted "anti-fa ha ha" as they beat these people senseless and one to death. It is no secret that we are trans-national & internationalist in our understanding of injustice, crime, inequality & that our common analysis transcends any notion of ethnicity, nation or race. We are those fools who follow those who died without name so others may work 9 hours a day and men and women live to be free. It is no secret that we are shunned, marginalised, taunted, criminalised and intimidated by those who would ignore the common problems of both humanity and planet to put "local" priorities of class, privilege or status quo before the inevitable - one human race & one planet with no masters.

Many of us suspect as before the role of state-sponsored or state-facilitated violence and terrorism in the attack. It is no secret that our simple wishes for liberty, equality & fraternity for all humankind provoke such attacks. It is no secret that our groups and ideology which were the first victims of the Soviet system have also in recent times become a convenient scapegoat for a regime which daily becomes more unacceptable to even those who would seek to oppress us in the "west".

The word "nazi" covers a multitude of sins. But as long as one of us lives it will not be the last clod of earth on any grave.

RIP Ilya as you lived in it. The Russian regime & those it serves and shelters may not be allowed to pollute Siberia more. Many of our first roots of recent global expansion can be linked to the Kyoto conference and accords- which saw for the first time the extent of damage done to the Tundra reach "foreign" eyes. We are not going to stop looking.

The gangs that targetted and attacked the eco/protest camp were far right sympathisers who have been allowed
grow in strength and force by the authorities who really don't care much about people who protest about
sustainability. Generally cos they have 'paymasters'.
We can observe the phenomena of authorities faciliatating the corrupt in this very country where people who
take on the 'powers that me' are brutalised (be it in Rossport, Pallaskenry or Tara).
The Police who had the charge of the safe-keeping and upholding the right to protest -stood back-
It is what happens when the corrupt reward the criminals and cronies.

The gang moved through the camp and assaulted and harmed many people.
One died RIP.
A young guy with a social conscience.

The growth of the right and its support by the offices of a corrupt state and its police force is not something that
should shock us, but it is something that we must take cognizance of- how many readers of this site would
want their kids/brothers involved in eco- and how many want them being - limited murdering bastards?-

It begins with tolerance
It begins with letting them learn right from wrong.

Putins far from the Right as a Former head of KGB, he's more old line Stalinist with a bent for cash. His Nashi Redguards are more likely your culprits.

Not every attack is from the right dears, get situational awareness as to where it truley is coming from...
