The Bush Watch Mystery

category international | crime and justice | other press author Wednesday June 13, 2007 15:53author by scorchio Report this post to the editors

As far as I know this story hasn't really broken in Ireland - and it certainly has a human interest dimension to it.

As you can see in this youtube video between the 52nd second and the first minute and 4 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKDdF6vfjoo the watch (Timex) which Bush was wearing disappeared during a hand-shaking session with Albanians (the only Europeans who like him).

Since then the USA has officially denied that any Albanian would do such a thing especially considering how Albanians are very sensitive about the bad reputation for pickpocketing, Faganism and general light fingered-ness a clear minority of their migrants have sadly brought their whole nation.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,2101639,00.html

Of course some US media people are taking the piss out of both Bush and Albanians -
"Shqiprim Ilir, has confessed to taking George W Bush's watch off his wrist during his recent street 'meet and greet', in an 'intense' interview with this web site. http://www.thevoiceofreason.com/2007/06/BushWatch.htm
It really is quite a cool story at this link you will see highlighted photos of the presidential arm with a watch and without a watch :-

or Star Wars in Yurop but Dickensian London that conspiracy theories are leaning towards...

Bush is gone.
Sarkozy is in.
Putin is on the way out- but reinforcing the stereotypes by growling at the missile
programme.
Poland is getting a good wrist-slapping.
EU enlargement off the menu- and Self determinism on.

Pass the pop-corn its 'Dallas' and 'Dynasty' all over again.
No-one but no-one has commented on the Royalist tendencies of the Sarkozy regime,
people were waving flags declaiming and serenading le petit 'Louis' when Sarko ascended
to the throne of France.Louis is the male heir of Sarko.

When Bush is gone there are certain to be changes.

It looks likely that Hillary or Obama will the possible Democrat in the White House - that means a US pull out from Iraq - slower under Hillary - faster under Obama - but US force would remain in significant numbers in US bases in the Middle East to reintervene to prevent Islamic radicals from toppling other governments in the Middle East (presuming that the Iraqi government does indeed collapse post the US pull out) especially the Saudi government.
Regardless of what happens in Iraq if which ever Democrat gets the White House it is obvious that the US mood to combat the perceived threat of Islamic terrorism and to project US global power is unlikely to dampen. However the Great White shark looming in the deep ready to rise and strike is obvious - Al Gore has not yet decided whether he will run.

However a strong candidate has emerged who may satisfy Republican misgivings about a too-liberal Guliani or a untrustworthy McCain - the actor Fred Thompson. He has been building his base quietly and may well cause an upset.
The Republican strategy towards Iraq is inevitably going to be favourable toward withdrawal and leaving security matters to the Iraqi government while US "advisors" and "firebrigade" forces will remains to combat any attempt to topple the Iraqi government. US forces would be built up in the region to safeguard the Saudi regime and to counter the growing power of Iran at the expense of US influence.

Either way it is clear that although the US appear to face imminent defeat in Iraq they will simply conduct an ordered retreat redeploy and regroup.

The old Clinton strategy of the 1990's will return - hitting targets from afar with air strikes and missiles and fermenting internal revolution and political violence in countries in the Middle East that are hostile to US interests.

The secret war against terrorism - the use of CIA paramilitary operations, special forces, black propaganda and cloak and dagger tactics against enemies of the US are the most likely replacement for conventional military forces.

This of course will continue until America experiences another 9/11 style terrorist attack - the 2006 plot to blow up jets over American cities or the 2007 plots to attack a New Jersey US Army base and the recent plot to blow up a fuel pipeline to JFK airport are simply operations by Muslims extremists which failed.

If a new more devastating attack occurred that exceeded the death toll and the economic damage to the US of September 11, 2001 you can bet your bottom dollar that Americans would have no hesitation in supporting a Dem or Rep President who launched an even more devasting war in the Middle East in response.
