Prodi's pro-NATO Government Falls In Italy

The story below explains why a member of the italian Senate. Franco Turigliatto, refused to vote for the Romano Prodi Government.

The leadership of Rifondazione, the Refounded Communist Party, is threatening to expel Franco from the PRC.

The rightwing behaviour of the Rifondazione leadership is a warning to Irish elected representatives positioned on the left who leave the door open to coalition with rightwing parties and implementation of a neoliberal agenda.

Franco Turigliatto has resigned form the Italian Senate - a poor decision which I cannot understand - the explanation in his open letter does not make any sense to me.

it's clear most of the Rifondazione has sold its soul to Prodi.

I welcome the Sinistra Critical call on Franco Turigliatto to withdraw his senseless resignation from the Italian Senate.

That is why it is necessary to only support left candidates in Ireland who are against, in advance of the general election on May 24, any governmental coalition with the right or side deals.

Just like Ireland, where the Green Party has surrendered to the right by entering a coalition government, the Italian PRC(Rifondazione) has moved sharply to the right - but in Italy the left wing of the party has reorganised independently. Some ex-Rifondazione members of the Italian parliament are walking :
