Nancy Davies report on Oaxaca

category international | crime and justice | other press author Sunday November 05, 2006 19:56author by C Murray Report this post to the editors

The Megamarch Began Today.

NYC and NarcoNews are reporting twenty thousand People converging for a March
organised by the APPO in Oaxaca:
"During the night helicopters brought military troops into the city, according to
'La Doctura', impecabbly calm and intelligent as ever on Radio Universidad"

http://narcosphere.narconews.com/story/2006/11/5/124043/519

NYC is reporting 20,000 protestors and 400 buses/vans and assorted military vehicles.
1500 cops in a bunker area.

The APPO have called for NVDA and to avoid the provocations of the military and PRI.

The March by the APPO is calling for the Resignation of Governor Ruiz. NR->OP even though the intro/summary is very minimalist

John Gibbler, who photographed the put-down at Radio Universidad and the
siege photos has been reporting on the megamarch for nyc and narconews:

http://nyc.indymedia.org/en/2006/11/78891.html
http://www.narconews.com/en/html

There is a report about the caravan of a hundred vehicles from Mexico city who
went to support the protest- the phots are very good. Ruiz claimed that it was
a small crowd of troublemakers- (sound familiar?)

The indymedia chiapas group published the popular movement before the put-down
will add the link later. The march has passed off peacefully . The APPO called for
non-violent resistance and the PFP stood back.
