China asserts dominance in the region but if you blinked you missed it; the difference between loud and clear and subtle and clear is the difference between, “bombing into the stone-age” and gently applying Asian lateral diplomacy. DPRK (Kim Jong il) rebuffs six-party talks but promises China during independent talks, that nuclear testing will cease. Miss war whore/status quo/dead children, Condoleezza Rice, and the rest of the world are left in no doubt which nation exercises the greater degree of influence in the region; a clear message has been sent – the world has taken note.

China has a huge airforce, a huge land army and is building up its naval forces.

In 1953, the Chinese Army crossed the Yalu River and pushed the American led UN army back to the original DMZ line dividing the Korean peninsula at the point where it was divided in 1950 at huge cost in Chinese lives.

China may well be engineering this crisis to make it look like a powerful broker in Asia and the world.

But potentially it may blow up literally in their faces.

I believe that the DPRK's real enemy is not the US but the Chinese superpower right on its borders.

The DPRK can flatten Seoul into rubble with thousands of guns in the a matter of minutes but that would give the Chinese to swarm over the northern border and swallow up and annex the entire Korean peninsula.

The US would not risk nuclear war with China over South Korea or Taiwan.

you couldn't have arrived at those conclusions without considerable chemical assistance.
