John Negroponte, Director of National Intelligence for the United States, announced on Friday, August 18, 2006, the creation of a new special CIA mission to oversee intelligence activities in Venezuela and Cuba. Patrick Maher will be responsible for integrating collection and analysis on Cuba and Venezuela across the Intelligence Community, identifying and filling gaps in intelligence, and ensuring the implementation of strategies, among other duties.

whilst chavez joined Castro to celebrate his 80th birthday which I reported with photos of the duo in another article, 4 political prisoners escaped in venezuela. 2 were former military officers who had taken part in one of the various coup d.etat attempts against the democratically elected Chavez regime, one was the leader of the last oil strike which combined with reactionary forces to provoke coup like conditions and another was the leader of the last oil production strike which almost preceded Chavez losing power through a referendum. the last didnt seem immediately important.

within 3 hours of the escape riots occuredi n 2 venezuelan prisons acting as a smokescreen, as the local commercial media analysis declared the day after. What stuck in my mind and makes this little titbit relevant to the article above was one line by a local prison official. He said that only in hollywood movies would one expect such escapes to be solely individual talent and ability, and that obviously an external and professional group had played a part. I thought of frongach, I thought of leary flying to canada, i thought of all the great timely prison escapes, and over coffee with a cuban dissident agreed..... the US and its coverts will play both Cuba and Venezuela together, their strategy will not be to bring gloria estafan to havana but rather to finally conquer Cuba through Venezuela........and all in an election year.

From, Guenon:-
Regarding intellectual atrophy:

"Modern Westerners admit nothing superior torational or discursive knowledge,
and increasingly it serves only immeadiate practical ends- so that the resulting action itself degenerates
from absence of principle, into an agigtation as unprofitable as it is trivial-this is the most
conspicuous feature of modern times, a craving for ceaseless agigtation, for continuous
change, for ever increasing speed."

Or:- the 'message of the US/UK hegemony is an empty vessel, of destructive wars
based on a materialist philosophy grounded in creationism that should be resisted
at all levels of society:

COS IT'S UNSUSTAINABLE.

And our Government is complicit in it's failure.

So we can pull up a deck chair and watch the thing explode or begin to re-educate
in language and relationship to our environment. The imposition of western 'democratic' ideals
on non-compliant societies is an excuse for war and debasement. The language
of this 'empire ' is white, elite , male and dominant.

Mr Bush should be looking to the concerns of the dispossessed in his own country,
but they are not part of the elite and do not count to that regime, any more than the
poor in Ireland count to the regime of greed and profiteering that currently, somehow
got an electoral mandate from the voters in this country.
