Bus bookings and the demo

Demo:
People may have seen tv footage of the big demonstation in London today against Israeli war crimes. Protestors carried children's shoes, some splattered with red paint to illustrate the people on the receiving end of Israel's 'precision' bombing.

If you have old kids shoes or clothes please bring them along and we can use them at the demo.

Bus:
If you don't book soon and miss the IPSC bus another option is to take the normal bus.

There is also a Bus Eireann bus leaving Gate 16 from Bus Aras at 12.00 on Saturday which gets into Dundalk at 13.35. Walk through the Clanbrassil St Mall (Shopping Centre, entrance at bus station) and come out on the other side on Clanbrassil St. Turn right and walk to the junction. You should see the demo on the left by the courthouse.

There is a special Bus Eireann promotion now where a single journey is €5 so get 2 single instead of a day return which is €18. There may also be private companies which are probably non-unionised.

Best option is take the IPSC bus. Book by mid-week to make sure you get a seat.

Regarding K1's well-intentioned contribution: of course no secular democrat feels much sympathy for the ideology of movements claiming allegiance to some particular religion. However, saying that one should oppose both Zionist colonialism and "religious terrorism" lets the oppressor off the hook, whatever about the accuracy or otherwise of the words I've put in quotation marks.

The secular resistance has been destroyed throughout the Arab and Islamic world, leaving only Islamists with the motivation and integrity to resist both Zionism and, eventually one hopes, Arab totalitarianism - which is maintained by the west (a) in order to preserve oil interests, and (b) in order to provide a buffer for Israel.

To say one should oppose Israeli state terror and "religious terrorism", therefore, is in practice to say that one should oppose oppression and the resistance to oppression. Not a very useful posture.

If Lebanese Christians and Bishops can support them as a legitimate national resistance movement then some picky people have too much time on their hands looking for reasons to condemn them. The secular PLO turned into a corrupt laughing stock and even collaborated with the zionists in attempts to overthrow the elected PA Hamas govt . Hizballah on the other hand have won worldwide applause and respect as the only Arab force to defeat "Israel" in the field twice in the last 6 years . They are the ONLY thing standing in the way of zionist occupation of even more ARab land . Indeed they seem to be the only hope and inspiraton for the entire region .

So now we have it in black and white: the 'progressive' Irish left supports the Islamofascists of Hezbollah. Anti-fascism now means fascism. This is Orwell 1984-speak come to life. What a nightmare.
