Cuadillo or Nobel Laureate? a Latin voter's dilema..,

category international | politics / elections | opinion/analysis author Tuesday May 09, 2006 01:31author by iosaf Report this post to the editors

Oscar Arias has entered history as the first Nobel Laureate ( Peace prize 1987) to be president of a nation twice.

Chavez doesn't like him nor will he ask the Iranians to help him exploit his natural resources.
This is because Costa Rica has very little on the natural resources side.

how do you promote your leaders?
how do you promote your leaders?

for his part in the second Esquipulas Peace agreements ) to be elected and sworn in as a President of any country on the list. The last time he was president he was president of Costa Rica.

His particular speciality as president seems tobe Costa Rica.

He is thus the first Nobel Laurete for Peace & president to be relected. However, your trusted correspondent can confirm that no-one has won the Peace prize twice.
Not even Kissenger. Not even James Joyce. Not even the the Dalai Lama & there have been three of them since the beginning of the Nobel Prize!!!
To make matters even more analytically newsworthy ("work your brain") - a manual recount of the Costa Rican election saw a majority of only 3250 votes its an unbroken record............... give the kids hope! stop them throwing rocks!

Oscar Arias is very snobby.... almost as snobby as Dominique de Villepin.
Costa Rica is famous through Hollywood movies. Keep your eyes open!
Mexico went and took pride of place of other "american states" to see the investiture.
Venezuela at the last minute said it wasn't going to go, due to rumoured security concerns for their leader, & the awkardness of him sitting next to the Mexicans since they have no official diplomatic relations open at the moment. The Mexicans are capitalist bandits. Just like in the cartoons.
The Costa Ricans considered as either a "state" or "consumer block in the USA" are generally pro-Taiwan and anti-Peoples' Republic China. They don't tell you that in the Hollywood movies.
The USA likes Nobel Peace Prize winners and is happy to support Costa Rica's new presidency even though they make the bad movies about the Costa Ricans and don't have any famous ones yet.
There are 20 indepedent states in latin America. None speak Latin. the majority aren't literate.
the Zapatistas come from Chiapas thats in the southern bit of "Mexico". In Patagonia in southern Argentina they boast the largest "foreign" population worldwide who speak Welsh. Wales isn't an independent state. They have pyramids in Latin America. They invented the potato in Latin America but don't have the patent on crisps, french fries, croquettes, chips, smash or smersh .
They do have some Oil and bit of Gas, a lot of Silver, quite a bit of Copper, enough Rubber, less Forests, not enough Water, more than the average Oxygen, good space launch sites, most of the Cocaine, and dinky hats. They also have tobacco. You need patches because of Latin Americans.
When will you start your manifesto against compulsory Latin studies in the Leaving Certificate?
