Major Security operation in Shannon Warport for Bush.

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Saturday March 04, 2006 21:06author by Mick Jennings - Cosantoiri Siochana Report this post to the editors

At what approx. time is the bugger expected to arrive ?????.

The 7pm Radio 1, news bulletin announced that a major security operation is being mounted this evening/night in advance of the expected arrival of Air Force One and Bush "in the early hours of tomorrow morning".

According to a 4pm update in the Irish Times : "The operation is understood to involve more than 400 gardaí, Army, air corps and airport security and that US secret service personnel visited Shannon Airport some days in advance of a stopover by Air Force One on the outgoing leg of Mr Bush's tour to assess the security risks".

If anyone out there has more hard info, can you post it here, so as to get more activists down there to give the war criminal the Cead Mile Fuck's, he so thoroughly deserves?.

ANYONE KNOW THE APPROX. TIME THE BUGGER ARRIVES ???.

According to anti-war activists already there, there are 500 and not 400 security bods defending him, this thief in the night, from the peoples righteous rage.

The best info Ed Horgan has as regards the arrival time is between 2AM and 4AM and yes there are 500 "bods" as you call them, Sheila, guarding his criminal person - some of them on horseback, some in sniper positions, some on ..... Sheeeeet. Who breaks a butterfly on a wheel?, who cracks a nut with a sledge-hammer?, who jails a war criminal? : as regards the latter, Cosantoiri Siochana will, given a smidgin of a chance to do a citizens arrest on the bastard.

Ed Horgan's revised time for Bush's arrival is now 3AM

Ed has confirmed that he, along with another anti-war activist have been harassed by the Special Branch tonight.

Ed also confirms some other members of the SB were clocked "honking in the Honk" - apparently, the Honk is a local hostelry?.

Instead of criiticising the Gardai, you ought to be thanking them for saving your lives. Imagine what would have happened if the Gardai had not been there. You're so dumb I'm sure you'd have attempted to carry out your threat to arrest President Bush. In which case, his American security guards would have shot you dead on the spot. Try and use your brains occasionally.

author by Sarah - Nonepublication date Sun Mar 05, 2006 13:05author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Early his morning -2.30 approx two american flagged planes touched down in shannon.
One of these planes was carrying the war criminal with the blood of over 100,000 Iraqis on his hands George Bush.
Although we attempted to excercise our civil right to protest at his presence here by going to the Airport in peace we were prevented from entering by both uniformed Guarda and unidentified and ununiformed people - at the airport checkpoint all of our names and addresses were taken and my car searched.
Although we carried nothing more dangerous than some signs expressing our displeasure at the continued support given to this illegal war by 'neutral' country, and although we complied with all the rquests for information by these Guarda,we were turned back.
In an obvious overkill (pun intended)we were then escorted by a guarda patrol car and two Army jeeps and one further unmarked car .
We were stopped twice more for names and addresses on a journey of two hundred yards to the edge of the so -called exclusion zone.
When we had removed ourselves far enough calm the dozens of Guarda we went to a vantage point where six other protesters were assembled.
We were completly surrounded and accompanied everymove we made by The Guarda and there were three army jeeps and three seperate unmarked cars with their occupants.
On a rough count there were twenty one uniformed Guarda as well as the occupants of the above vehiles surrounding nine protesters
Not one of member of these forces was prepared to put humanity before toeing the illegal line of transporting terror that our government has drawn.
Time will prove their part in this war ,these renditions and the harbouring of George Bush to be criminal and illegal.

Newsworthy all last night.Didnt even make any of the proper national papers, and apart from an "unnamed spokesman" comment on RTE that was it.
Sarah
BTW it is Garda. Plural Gardai.Guess from your spelling you are not from around these parts.Oh well guess it shows the IWAM is like a little dog in politics here .
All yap and no bite. When their arch enemy shows up on their door step all talk, and no one was brave enough to go and try to arrest the war criminal.Despite much bluster, posturing and other Irish BS talk..No one wanted to be a maryter, and show solidarity with the poor oppressed of the world people??Maybe it is because you all knew that you would be facing armed people who would shoot on sight ,so it is easier to tallk than do?Truth is power really does come out of a gun barrel.
So keep on yapping little doggies, because you sure as hell cant bite.

Sound like more than the Prick Mc Dowell had on duty down Sackville Street last weekend.
Ah yes indeed, in a vassal-state no shortage of manpower and resurces available to defend the imperial overlords ! Obviously far more important than the lives and property of the ordinary citizens.

So how come if the Prick McDowell is such a supporter of true "republican" values as he would have us believe that he is willing to crawl so far up the intestinal tract of a foreign despot ?

I turned up in Shannon a little before midnight last night and was told by some officers of the Gardaí that there had been no sign of protesters all night. There was no one at the spot we used the other night. I'd messed up and left my own phone at home and had to borrow another one, so I couldn't phone anyone for details. Sorry for not being able to show solidarity with you guys, I phoned my lift back to come pick me up after I'd finished talking to the Gardaí. Couldn't risk the chance of being stranded.

I'm very concerned about the lack of numbers of people who turn up to these events. I talk to lots of people, very few agree with me about everything, but virtually nobody I know thinks Bush is anything other than a genocidal disease. And they want no part of him or his actions.

The state itself, must be more surprised. I mean they had the same number at least of Gardaí as the other night, as confirmed by the two Gardaí I spoke to. Although their patrol area itself was much greater, in my opinion.

The two Gardaí reckoned it was the 'frost' that kept people away.

Bush must be very proud of his Irish representatives, our government. They are a model for all.

Apathy is a lack of support, not an acknowledgement Mr. Ahern. You bring me into a war, and allied with an enemy of humanity.

In answer to John and A10 I should like to make the following points.
The reason why there was only a very brief news item on RTE television re the Bush visit was that RTE was denied access to Shannon Airport last night. Like the protestors, the RTE crew had to remain outside the perimeter fence. I presume that other journalists were similarly denied access.
The suggestion that gardai were protecting protesters from being shot by US gunmen is not without its merits. When the government of this country hands over sovereignty to a foreign nation anything can happen. But there was as great a risk of garda or army personnel being shot by foreign troops and operatives on our soil as there was risk to protestors. Any of the gardai and army members we met last night did not appear to be armed. Not a gun in sight. Perhaps their US overlords did not quite trust them with live ammunition. Yet many of us who protest regularly at Shannon have experience of guns being trained on us. (As an aside here, I should add, that the only time that the Irish Army has used armoured personnel troop carriers against the Irish people was during the Bush visit in 2004.)
The reality of who protects whom is that anti-war protestors protect the army and the gardai. If it were not for the voice of dissent and the threat that this poses to election prospects Ahern and his government would have supplied army and garda members to the ‘coalition of the willing’. To hell with neutrality and Bunreacht na hEireann.
Bertie is willing to surrender our sovereignty, and kowtow to Emperor Bush but he always has to keep his eye on the next election. It is the anti-war activists who keep the Irish public informed of what is happening at Shannon. Remember initial denials by government that US troops were using Shannon. The establishment of the peace camp finally put paid to this lie. Activists first raised the issue of torture (rendition for those of you who like their world view sanitised) via Shannon. It was Ed Horgan's constitutional challenge that revealed exactly what type of weapons were being ferried through Shannon.
So great a threat were those nine protesters last night that they could not move an inch, without being followed by a bevy of gardai and army. Would that those guardians of the peace had done their duty to this state and dealt with the real criminal in Shannon that night.

Dear Anti-american people,
I am not writing to slander your name, but i write as a means to have my words heard. I'm quite tired of all of the anti-american bullshit. It's just stupid. If you don't like war go smoke weed with all of the other protestant hippies, don't do violence. Thats just hipocracy. And wanting to kill someone over something your not even involved in? please. your obviously a bunch of raving lunatics if thats how you want to act. Bush is not a bad person, so give it up. He is an honest man, trying to fulfill his duty to his country, and protect it. All of you conspiracists give it up. America does not want anything to do with oil in Iraq. 60 percent of our oil comes from Canada(yes it is bought not taken). America is just a good as country as any, and everyone is biased to beleive otherwise. So forfeit your shitty parade before it gets out of hand and you cause the very thing you are trying to stop, war.

where were APC's used against the people of Clare???IE by used I mean they drove over people or machine gunned them.Parking them up or driving along a public road is not a crime or oppressing anyone.
Also, maybe RTE didnt bother going down because they saw NINE people showing up and decided it wasnt going to be news[.Unless one of youse got shot through stupidity or on purpouse.] Also who has trained guns on you in Shannon?Hardly rent a cop or the local plod.Unless of course you have pissed of the local SB?
As for the rest of your welt anschaung, well from what I can understand between the propaganda phrases is you are pissed off with Bertie and Bush??Dont worry about Bertie sending anyone of our Dads army anywhere in the world. We arent competant or equipped for any offensive actions, apart from dealing with dissent in the State.
