If you do you are labelled an extremist. However this out of control immigration is fully facilitated by the Irish government and the EU and the shady figure behind the Neo Con movement pushing for endless war, wokeism and globalist agenda.

Charlie Kirk's murder marks the shift to a post-woke world, says Dr David McGrogan. At least the woke wanted to return to Year Zero and build a 'better world'. The online, Bluesky Left of 2025 just hate conservatives.

Make Art Not War

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Monday December 05, 2005 20:36author by Nessa - NCAD Students' Unionauthor email ncadsu at gmail dot comauthor address 100 Thomas Street Dublin 8 Report this post to the editors

An exhibition. A protest. A reminder.

NCAD students will host an anti-war art exhibition night in the college, with guest story-teller Coilin OhAiseadha.

The students of the National College of Art and Design would like to invite you to their protest exhibition "Art Not War" on Wednesday 7th December. The event will include works of every shape, size and medium, expressing the views of artists from inside and outside the college who object to the use of violent conflict as a solution to the world's problems.

The aim of the exhibition is to stimulate thought, discussion and hopefully action, by reminding people of the realities of war and why so many are opposed to it. It is intended as an alternative to the marches and rallies which have become repetitive and go unnoticed by a population desensitised by never-ending media coverage of war.

As part of the protest we will be running a postcard campaign against the ongoing war in Iraq. Blank postcards are available before and during the exhibition, and we encourage visitors, or those who can't make it to the exhibition, to draw, paint or write on these, expressing their thoughts on war. These will be posted to the Political Section of the US Embassy after the exhibition. As part of this project we are inviting all visitors to donate the price of a stamp (48c) at the door.

Contributions of any sort - art works, completed postcards, postage stamps, opinions and especially your presence at the exhibition - will be most gratefully accepted. The main event will take place from 18.30 to 20.30 on Wednesday 7th December, in the college campus on Thomas Street, but much of the work will still be on exhibition on Thursday 8th December from 9.30 to 15.30. It promises to be an exciting evening, with painting, print, film, photography, sculpture, music, performance, interactive art, and story-telling by Coilin OhAiseadha!

Thanks, Nessa!

It's a great honour for me to be invited me to participate as guest storyteller and fellow peace protester at the "Make Art Not War" exhibition!

Here comes some more information about my part in the event.

This performance will draw on my long-standing repertoire of stories on the theme of war and peace:
- The Molbos Defend their Fatherland
Some Danish villages have more than one idiot! How will these idiots defend their fatherland from invasion?
- Five Blind Men and the Elephant
This Sufi story is a substitute for the story of Muhammad Ali, whose subversive comments might offend the sensibilities of our American guests.
- The Louse Woman
A Brazilian folktale about a woman who insists on helping her husband, despite his protests.
- The Shaman´s Shadow
A greedy shaman from the cold north west deploys a powerful shadow helper to build a warring empire.
- Death in Baghdad
New version of an old Sufi story, in which an American officer in Iraq goes on the hunt for Saddam´s personal hitman.
- Bigots
Subjected to sectarian abuse while working as a doctor in Belfast, I proved that I could give as good as I got.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

I would of loved to have gone there. Alas it's now 8.30 and I'm in Waterford.

It's a real interesting idea and I do hope it's successful.

I saw this only today, mea culpa.

Maybe a repeat sometime?

Thanks, Nessa and all the dozens of students and guests who came and made the storytelling event at the Make Art Not War exhibition an unforgettable experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of telling almost non-stop for two hours. The listening was fairly intense. :)

I'd love to do this again. Apart from the repertoire mentioned above, I have a 50-minute version of the 12th century saga of Maeldun the Voyager - an Irish warrior of the early Christian period who goes on a sea voyage to seek and destroy his father's murderer. The voyage is accursed and Maeldun and his crew wander among islands populated by demons, monsters, giants, and four ancient hermits dressed only in their own long, white hair, before finally finding their way back to the house of the murderer.

That's not to mention my repertoire of stories on themes besides war and peace!

Any offers? If somebody can arrange a venue and a crowd, I'll perform!

Best,
Coilín.
