A highly controversal rugby match which saw Australia win by 163-106

Chris Johnson of Australia grabs Matty Forde of Ireland during yesterday's second and final test of the International Rules Series at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne. Johnson was sent off during the game in which the Australians came in for strong criticism for some high tackling. The Australians won the game and took the series 163-106.

Yesterdays rugby match has come in for some strong criticism from International rugby games rules observers after some outrageous tackles on the Irish rugby players. In one of the most vicious fowls in rugby ever, Chris Johnson grabbed Irelands Matty Forde around the neck knocking him hard to the ground. A few minutes later, further confrontations between Australian and Irish players saw just how barbaric the Australian players were in stirring up trouble. There was widespread condemnation of the Australian players violent code of conduct from the Irish rugby team captain who was interviewed after the match.

Australia won this match controversially by 163 - 106.

I presume your refering to the test as a rugby tournament to highlight the bad tackles?

If so then you should be aware that the Australian version is more aggresive than the Irish so the players involved would be used to such treatment in their own tournaments.

what rugby?

Aussie rules versus GAA = compromise rules (although there seemed little compromise from the aussies)

The reality is that the aussies have mastered the round bal, kicking it and handpassing it, the irish lads on the other hand have not mastered the tackling skills!!!!!

A good rugby coach to teach them a few tackling moves might be a good idea for the next series!

Is the aussie aggression new? well those of us who remember the big dipper and co from the early days of this competition know that the aussies have always been aggressive, tough tackling and the only difference now is that they have at last also mastered the round ball.................
