T.O.D.A.Y is back

category national | miscellaneous | press release author Tuesday August 23, 2005 13:46author by Sam - T.O.D.A.Yauthor email todayeire at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

After a brief lapse in activity T.O.D.A.Y is back! This revitalization of the group coincides with the start of the school year. We hope to make this the year that the secondary school students of Ireland, get off their asses and get organised.

What we need to do?

We need to forge links with other organisations, get involved in worthy campaigns and help build Irelands only direct action orientated youth activist group.

What you can do?

We need all the help we can get. If you are an experienced campaigner or activist please e-mail us with any advice or tips for our group and also if you are a teenager who is involved or wants to take further and more direct action against such issues as war, racism and animal cruety, please also e-mail us.

Cheers,

Sam

sper guydebordisdead isn't a student - shame. And he certainly isn't a WSM cheerleader. In fact this is definitely the first time I've heard or read him say anything positive about our organisation. I feel a little uncomfortable, guy, call us the anarcho-SWP again.

Cough cough Joan Collins Cough cough. I can cough a lot more if you want me to but my throat would get sore.

Incidently WSMers can't do anything they want either, but we don't pretend they can which is perhaps one reason why we've never had to expel any of our members.

nohe'snot wrote
SY also took part in the biggest and longest nvda in recent history in dublin a couple even getting locked up for it.

Me:
WSM was also involved in this, fortunately none of our members got locked up. This was not an SP campaign even if some SPers might like to pretend it was.

Me:
Yeah having a fashion sense is so anti-working class. Real revolutionaries wear ill fitting clothes and rejoice in getting arrested - it acts as - what was it Lenin called it - an 'exposure'. These 'exposures' then act as a catalyst to fuel the growth of the mass workers revolutionary party which will lead the proletariat to communism. I mean socialism, we can't use the word communism or even think about the concept - it alienates 'ordinary people' and is 'ultra-leftist'. Shudder.

nohe'snot wrote:
You shouldn't look down your nose at other working class people engaging in struggle, although you may not agree with all the politics you should try and see past your own sectish instincts and try not to prevent different groups working together.

Me:
I don't think guy was looking down his nose at other working class people engaged in struggle. I'd imagine he was disagreeing with your politics and your practice. Working class fascists engage in struggle but that doesn't mean I'm going to work with them or refrain from discouraging young activists from working with them. And although I will work with Bolsheviks I really really don't want to and am not going to refrain from explaining to young activists why.

Let me finish like I have seen done before at a few Bolshevik meetings I've been at: with a few slogans.

Class first.
No to party dictatorships.
Death to the power of dead labour.

(The last one is a pun and may require you 'marxists' to go read some marx before replying to it.)

PS I'm just after re-reading this comment and I just want to say that I'm normally not this much of a prick and am generally a very polite person. I just hate Bolshevism.

stopping cars going in is an action, what we used to call a picket. (although there may be some new trendy word you like to use) And excatly the same action as practised by all the others involved including anarchists. SY also took part in the biggest and longest nvda in recent history in dublin a couple even getting locked up for it. No costumes or trendy clothes just standing shoulder to shoulder with people and especially no masks, we are prepared to openly stand up for our beliefs. You shouldn't look down your nose at other working class people engaging in struggle, although you may not agree with all the politics you should try and see past your own sectish instincts and try not to prevent different groups working together. if today does get up and running sy would like to fraternally work with them on actions we can agree. And maybe even, dare we say it! discuss our politics, action is nothing without something behind it.

If you think standing outside with a placard is direct action then your just as deluded as everyone thinks you are.

Of course direct action isn't everything - however TODAY are looking for direct action, hence the heads up.

a group of sy took part in direct action of a statoil station in wicklow. Direct action isn't everything, youth defence use direct action too, doesn't stop them from being reactionary bigots.

sp recruited my younger sibling (considerably younger) she left within 6months because of the authoritarian bullshit.

Nothing radical about the SP and as free as they may be to engage in DA, they never actually seem to.

author by sperpublication date Sat Aug 27, 2005 01:33author address author phone Report this post to the editors

spers can do anything they want, if you opened your eyes out there you might meet them. Just cause they won't dress up as clowns (either the circa or black block type) doen't mean they won't take part in direct actions. (bin tax was the biggest yet) Probably the lack of uniform that's confusing you. They are also free to do anything they want outside the party and do, probably the only reason you didn't cop it was no one has tried to recruit you which is ironic. (but going by your mentality hardly suprising), enjoy your ra ra radicalism!!!!! college years are so so short.

I left off WSM and Organise as they don't seem to be as hungry for members, actually allow members to engage in any amount of other activity outside the group - Including direct action, and aren't political parties who talk revolution until the elections come around.

Solidarity with the WSM and ORGANISE!

Some advice comrades - Avoid the impotent left who will try to co-opt your desires, (especially the desire for Action), they come under many varietys but they all serve the same function (recuperation!)..

SWP - SP - SY - CP - CY - SF - OSF - LY

all desperately trying to pretend their politics are in any way relevent to the new global movements, they ought to be rolled in manure and thrown in the liffey for their pretentiousness.

Solidarity!
