first revealed by The Village - further investigated by Blogger

'...a company Global Mobile Vision that “has been accused of intimidating staff and of failing to pay wages due. And its work practices are bizarre”, according to Village Magazine.'

The company states on their headed note paper that they are registered as company number . This number is not registered with the CRO for any company. Global Mobile Vision does not look like registered as a company. In fact no company is registered with these details at all.

There is a meeting in Buswell’s Hotel on Molesworth street tomorrow at 2PM. Several journolists will be in attendance along with some politicians. I am not sure if there will be any techno-journos-if anyone knows any, please let them know.

A Dublin software company with links to Christian evangelists has been accused of intimidating staff and of failing to pay wages due. And its work practices are bizarre. Management deny the allegations. Ruairí McCann and Colin Murphy report.

A software company in North Dublin has been accused of withholding payment from staff and of detaining or intimidating staff who have sought pay or who have complained.

Staff member John Bates was detained on Wednesday on Wednesday 8 June when he returned from his lunch break. He was summoned to a meeting with management, where he was told he was being suspended for attempting to organise staff and for contacting the media. Security staff demanded to search his bag, accusing him of possessing “intellectual property” materials of the company. When he refused, security staff held him in the offices, he said. Bates telephoned TD Joe Higgins, who contacted the gardaí. Bates was released when the gardaí arrived.

The company have said the allegations against it are “completely untrue”.

Global Mobile Vision seemed to have updated their site since last night.
They are now carrying a contact name and number for their DUBLIN operation:

One of the most distressing events that can occur when working for an IT company is a personal search. This time-honoured tactic is occasionally imposed when employers terminate employment. If the termination comes as a surprise, the personal search of bags, hard drives and the boot of your car will probably feel intimidating.

RunningWithBulls.com blog update about the Global Mobile Vision ex-employees meeting today

Global Mobile Vision: Update after ex-employee meeting

I have attended the meeting of GlobalMobileVision.com ex-workers, as earlier written about. The meeting took place in Buswells Hotel, opposite Leinster House, the seat of the Irish Government.

Approximately 40 people were in attendance, most notably Independent TD Finian McGrath including another public representative (who’s name I did not catch) a number of journalists, including a TV cameraman. Mr. McGrath sent apologies from TD Joe Higgins who said he was unable to attend the meeting.

I opened my mail this evening, and found a comment waiting for in my mail. It was a comment left by Alex Fitzgearld, a member of Global Mobile Vision management, Tech/Admin/Zone contact for the globalmobilevision.com domainname, and also as of yesterday PR contact for GlobalMobileVision.com in Dublin, in response to my earlier post about the GMV ex-employees meeting, which was held in Buswells hotel earlier today.

I have copied his comment to my post below, again, mainly to create a public searchable Internet cache, to keep a record of this event for others.

After receiving Mr. Fitzgearld’s response last night, I thought it would be in the best interest of everyone to involved to ask Global Mobile Vision a number of honest, straight questions.
I look forward, as I am sure do other people, to the answers.

=====

Open questions to Mr. Fitzgearld/GMV management. I would appreciate if you would take the time to respond to these questions.

Having offered me a job following extended interviews they kept me waiting in the lobby for 3 hours brought me upstairs and asked me to commence doing some research on mobile phone technology. 1 hour later told me to go home. Subsequently received no contact from them. Dodgy bunch. The only people I spoke with were some Irish girls who were also a bit dodgy.
