The publication of the photographs of Saddam Hussein by the Sun is not only a flagrant violation of the 3th Geneva Convention, it also violates the human right on dignity of every prisoner of war, regardless of the crime This letter has been also published by Al-Jazeerah dd 23st of may |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3But don't you have a skewed sense of priorities in rushing to defend this guy when there are other people more deserving of having their Human Rights protected? Go tell it to Ken Bigley's family.... here's some other areas you could write about:
* What about old people in institutional care?
* What about the five schoolgirls killed last week in Ireland?
* What about the disgusting treatment meted out to the child adopted by an Irish "couple" and then dumped in an Indonesian orphanage along with an attempt to revoke his irish citizenship.
What has Indymedia covered about these issues? Or are they of a lot less concern than a mass murderer in his underpants?
* old people and all people in care - lots of articles.
we have consistently highlighted the shoddy treatment in psychiatric hospitals in ireland, and campaigned against Harney's charges on pensioner residencies.
* we covered the tsunami disaster from the beginning, in many indymedia collectives campaigning for western aid and donations, and debated positions on adoption of victims, and have consistently informed the readers about nationality cases.
* we didn't mention the road accident on the Navan road, as it is one of the most dangerous roads in ireland, but we have sort of expressed our wish for safer roads.
write these articles yourself Indymedia watcher!
* do you want compulsory seatbelts in buses (as in belgium)?
* do you want a public inquiry into all residential institutions?
* do you want an agreed ethical policy on the adoption of third world children?
or do you have other ideas? let us know.
So long as we have chimps buying the tabloid rags we'll be bombarded by their muck. And so long as we have people who 'couldnt care less' about political issues we'll be bombarded by bad political judgment and bad politcal errors which will continue to cause lives to be lost and lives to deteriorate in general!
