Dolphin's Barn Community Garden

category dublin | environment | other press author Friday April 29, 2005 19:01author by Paul Baynes Report this post to the editors

Thursday April 29th

We had another successful evening at the Dolphin's Barn community garden.

For the first time, there was an equal gender balance - 4 fellas and 4 women. We did a little bit of watering. Then we cleared more area of grass and stones and began work on another row. We planted a section of the row with sunflower and pumpkin seeds, I think it was. It was a fine, dry day, and as I looked around the garden, I thought of that first night there, and how radically the place has changed since then. We've had a big impact on the space already, and things are going to get better and better.

Lara brought along some carrot cake that we made, and we shared it out, and then went on our way, until the next time...

Hello out there,
does your community garden have a compost bin/ heap? Do you know of any community compost scheme in existence inside or outside this island? If so please drop me a line. I'm trying to research this most interesting subject but have thus far encountered very little!
Many thanks,
Luke
