Hello! How ya doin? People and Places the 2005 edition.

following the 2004 people and places.

Pinochet is now going to get bail.
and will be able to leave his house with swimming pool to have a toddle around only and only if the next judge supports the decision made earlier today to accept his bali application in relation to the ongoing investigation into his alledged missappropriation of several billion dollars during the extended operation Condor which brought him to power September 11 long time ago.

He must be biting his nails.

the Aga Khan one of the richest men in the world is facing a surprise divorce suit from his German born ex model pop singer wife Inaara Aga Khan, 41 who got the title "Begum" when she married him, and had to have facial surgery to stay pretty enough to be wanted.

The Begum, born Gabriele Thyssen in Frankfurt, wants half the 67-year-old Aga Khan's fortune, estimated to be at least $2.4 billion.

If she doesn't get it, and she's not exactly begging,
she's threatening to come clean, as a face lift on the nature of the investments of the Khan fortune, which let's get honest didn't just come from being worth his weight in gold or being a dab hand at buying part shares in racing horses.

http://dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story.jsp?sectionid=1268&storyid=2486926

But the Aga Khan, a British citizen who owns 600 racehorses (complete ones not just little Shergar bits) and has homes on five continents, has successfully applied to have the divorce heard in a French court, where he believes his wife will receive a less lucrative settlement.

The Aga Khan's financial affairs have already been the subject of investigations by the authorities in America and Canada. They looked into the apparent transfer of large amounts of cash by members of the 18 million-member Shia Muslim Ismaili sect, who donate significant sums to the Aga and worship him as their God or "bringer of light".

Similar investigations by the UK's Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise, which collects VAT, could paralyse his operations.

Ariel Sharon has seen his new Israeli government approved by the Knesset in the last few hours, and a new head of the Bank of Israel nominated by nice MrBinyamin Netanyahu, Mr Fischer of the USA (no relation to nasty anti-semite Bobby Fischer the chess master)
Mr S. Fischer (the ex IMF worker) will have to get Israeli citizenship to start work, where as Mr B.Fischer (the Chess master) will have to lose US citizenship to remain free.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4161997.stm
Mr Stanley Fischer was transferred from MIT (Massachussetts Institute of Technology) where the super intelligent people in America are humoured and kept relatively out of mischief in 1979 when he spent a month seconded to the Bank of Israel in 1979.
Which began a long-time involvement in studying Israel's economy and putting it through the abacus and chatting to the iguana about it. He will naturally be expected to put on a lot of weight for the job and is receiving expert tuition in the "real world" from fellow MIT-people who've managed to hold down proper jobs in the past. (like how to organise lunch.)

twinkie is still very popular amonst the older generation, and going strong at the age of 87, fighting off rumours that's she's on female viagra, she's expected to put in a guest star appearance at the Sunday Independent victims of the big wave disaster which is scheduled for some time soon.
***************
Bill Gates is not so popular as he used to be, and along with Alexander the Great is getting a right dishing across the civilised European continent for offending the post-communists who make up almost 40% of our EU population. As well as the inhabitants of la Mancha who are happily using LINUX software to mark the Cervantes anniversary year.
****************
Leonardo Caprio, famous for being the man who showed us the beach, has received a Legionaire d'honour award from the French state and is looking forward to everyone liking his new movie on the man who eventually brought us Stealth technology and didn't cut his fingernails at all at all, Howard Hughes and of course his quaintly named "mormon mafia" protectors.
******************

There will be more People and Places updates through the year 2005.
including the answers to such questions as-

Will Pinochet go free?
Will the Aga Khan's choice of a french divorce court
prove to be his last hurdle?
Will Leonardo make more calanders?
Will Bill Gates redeem his soul in public?
Will Ariel take down his "stalinist" wall?
Will Twinkie get the most downloads from the MP3 over 60s generation?

and more..
much much more...

Bill Gates talks to his team about tomorrow's patch releases for the "extremely critical" flaws in MS internet explorer 6. There have never been "extremely critical" flaws in th tech world since he told us about "Y2K" and the most sensitive amongst us stocked up on baked beans by the baker's dozen.

Bill will also be talking to his liberal thinktank people who have done great work for the extension of liberal values throughout the Western World since he turned the age of Alexander and became the richest man in the world. Bill will also be talking to his people at the Foundation about the great work their doing on HIV research. Bill will be having a normal day. Bill might get really tippy toppy reports from his people on the news from Barcelona researchers who have proven that rats can distinguish between human languages.

Mr Bush has been on the phone to the Palestinian leadership and the Israeli leadership and they've been on the phone to each other. Peace = Saleem = Shalom sort of stuff. All you need is love and a map.

Mr Bush has also announced his surprise appointment for Economic Secretary, Allan Hubbard, (not to be confused with old mother Hubbard, or L Ron Hubbard) who will take over half of the responsibility for the USA's finances as Mr Bush prepares his "social welfare reform" thingy in the second term of his presidency.

Zhang Yichi's is China's 1.3 billionth citizen, and his parents have rejected all corporation attempts to use him as an advertising propanganda coup-
"lucky to be China's 1.3 billionth citizen," the baby's father, Zhang Tong, was quoted as saying. "But it's unnecessary to act as an image representative for so many products, since Zhang Yichi is too young and too many commercial activities will have negative impact on the boy's healthy growth.

Pinochet (of operation Condor) has officially got his liberty to leave the compound / house in Los Boldos 130 km south of Santiago. Unfortuanately because all his money is frozen, Condor Man hasn't got the 3,500$ (2,669 €) to get out and about. The prosecution don't want him out because they say he's a "danger to society" on account of him ordering the deaths of nosey and liberal types who abounded in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay back when he was "useful" to "someone". His accounts in Riggs Bank USA holding 8,000,000$ have been frozen and his property is as well. His swimming pool is not frozen however, and his son and daughter are happy to keep him company in the house, where his son can tell him about the stint he just completed in prison for selling dodgey second hand cars like Fort transits without proper documentation.

It will be interesting to see who lends him the cash.

Mark Thatcher is to plead guilty to charges that he was involved in a coup d'etat attempt in Equitorial Guinea tomorrow in the post Apartheid state of South Africa's high court, the Guardian and agencies announced today, which is part of their "anti-Thatcher" tradition, whom they loathed for the miners, the kids milk and well all of it. They are proudly reminding everyone that Maggie cried when he lost his way in the desert years ago today.

The hard drug addicts of Europe, the UK and the USA will face their worst next years, as they adjust to less Tobacco, "Power and so", and will require sympathy, understanding, compassion and the full assistance of health authorities, commuity groups, prison authorities and social networks.

By the Grace, we don't all have to go there / stay there.

Redemption and Forgiveness mean recognising that the point where you think "there go I" is long after that other person began their road, and for many they were pushed down it, by parents, by schools, by governments and states, by society.

You can't judge anyone, coz it's not your job.

Prisons are filled with the innocent, and the beautiful and innocent have often had no enemies but time. But we're all capable of doing better and leaving the darkness of the "XX century". Of growing old and like Odysses, forgetting which was Penelope and which was the other fecking bitch, and just worrying about your vine instead and not even thinking you'll get a book / telly show / dance company named after you.

Manuel Contreras was sentanced recently to 12 years for the kidnapping of a teenager of 16 years in 1975 and his subsequent death in Chile.
As one of the prime adjuntants of Augusto Pinochet (the director of the Condor Project) which overthrew the legitimate democratically elected government of Salvador Allende in a coup d'etat which started with the backing of US agents and corporations and others in South America on the 11th of September.

After Chile's September 11, thousands were rounded up and kept in illegal custody in the football stadium. The head of Pinochet's secret police shares responsibilty for that.

Those hundreds of thousands Chileans and South Americans and foreigners were murdered, tortured and simply "dissappeared".

Operation Condor served many more interests than simply securing copper mines for the corporations of the USA. It copperfastened the control of Southern America by a cabal of supremacists and evil scientist and war criminals whose arrogance never left their favourite symbols and words off the trail of clues.

Manuel Contreeas was arrested in these last 24 hours for only one death, that of a teenager.

In the past, before your great grandparents when an officer and a gentleman was to be arrested a coach was sent for him with the order of arraignment. On the seat would be left a pistol with one shot, which he was expected to make honourable use of before arriving at the prison block.

In the past before your great great great great great great great great (who's counting?) grandparents when an officer and gentleman was to be arrested he took his sword and ran upon it.

In the past 24 hours Manuel Contreras used his pistol to resist arrest and fired on the agents of Chilean democratic justice, and it took 25 of them to take him from his house to the prison block where he will remain, proof if any were needed of the dishonour of all those "officers" & "gentlemen" who hid under and served Operation Condor.
