And further readings on 15th and 16th of December

Anthology Books in Dublin is pleased to host several events during the month of December including two evenings of readings in response to the American elections and the new world disorder, an evening with journalist Nell McCafferty, and a reading by short story writer extraordinaire Jack Harte.

All events at Anthology are free and open to the public, and are held on our premises at Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.

Wednesday December 8 and Thursday December 9, 7PM
Two evenings of readings in response to the American elections and the new world disorder. An eclectic mix of participants will be reading from texts of their own choosing, creating a space for informed and interested voices, and a forum for possible discussion.

Wednesday, December 8: readers are artist and educator Brian Hand; Rebecca Woolf, voting rights activist and Chairwoman of Democrats Abroad; and Raymond Deane, founder and present Chairman of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Thursday, December 9: readers are experimental/documentary filmmaker Vivienne Dick; artist, curator and writer Orla Ryan; and Ivana Bacik, Reid Professor of Criminal Law at Trinity College and Labour Party candidate in Dublin for European elections 2004.

Wednesday December 15, 7PM
Nell McCafferty reads from her newly published memoir, Nell, described as scorchingly honest and inspiring, and detailing vividly her journeys through republicanism, feminism, and activism. In her memoir, McCafferty speaks openly about her own sexuality as well, and the upbringing and cultures of silence which still prevail in Ireland, which made coming out of the closet difficult both personally and professionally. Books will be available for signing.

Thursday December 16, 7PM
Jack Harte reads from his collection of short stories, From Under Gogol's Nose, which are so entertainingly readable that their sting only hits you afterwards. In the tradition of the old Gaelic storytellers, timeless as well as contemporary. Harte is founder of both the Irish Writers Union and the Irish Writers Centre. Books as well as a new CD of Sligo stories and songs, Lament for the Birds, will be available for signing.

Anthology Books is located at Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
