 Candlelight vigil at the Spire O'Connell Street, Dublin, to mark the eve of Universal Children's Day CADIC - Coalition Against the Deportation of Irish Children: 2 events (Nov 19-20, Dublin) PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT two events to highlight the plight of thousands of Irish children, born to migrant parents, who face forced removal from Ireland because of government policy. As the world celebrates Universal Children's Day, it is time to remind the Irish government of its legal obligations to treat all children equally irrespective of the race or nationality of their parents. On 19th November from 5 - 7 pm, CADIC is holding a candlelight vigil at the Spire O'Connell Street, Dublin, to mark the eve of Universal Children's Day On 20th November from 11 am - 1 pm CADIC is hosting a event of fun and entertainment for children in Stephen's Green to highlight the government's obligations to equality under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Please come along and show your support for all Irish children and their migrant parents. The Unitied Nations asks all countries to celebrate Universal Children's Day. The date of 20 November marks the day on which the United Nations adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, in 1959, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, in 1989. Ireland is a party to this Convention. The Convention obliges the government to "respect and ensure the rights [of] each child without discrimination of any kind, irrespective of the child's or his or her parent's or legal guardian's race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national, ethnic or social origin, property, disability, birth or other status."
