Kristen Anderberg "done" with IMC

Author cites lack of "censorship" as a problem

After giving IndyMedia a fair shot, I am through with it. It may be fine for announcements of events, but for op/ed and analysis pieces, it is more hassle than it is worth for me. I will work for 5 solid hours on an article only to have it shot to hell my 5 anonymous posters within an hour of posting it.

So, if no-one critizes her, she'll stay? 5 hours a day writing an article? Get a life or a job. Check out her website. Her problem is she doesn't like criticism. I don't agree the Seattle IMC is all that bad, tho there are plenty that do, and even the SF (San Francisco, not Sinn Fein) IMC has an opinion on it:

Indymedia is a different process creatively, technically, chronologically, to writing a book.

I think Kristen is great. I wish her stuff could get out as far and wide as possible. I think it's a bummer that this is the conclusion she's come to, but I hope I'll be able to continue finding her stuff.

I'd see the day, but I think your right there risible!!!!! Non censorship is an alluring ideal, however in practice it does cause serious problems.
there is definately a need for some form of defined parameters as to what is acceptable to publish and what is definately not.

Oh boohooo my heart goes out to christina, her wonderful creativity is taken to pieces by posters who dont agree, think she is full of shite,or a totally opininated self centerd princess. It's part of the real world not everyone will like or agree with you all the time.Grow up and become an adult and put some armour on your artistic child.Prefably also try getting some reality in your life.

Copy and pasted text of the above article edited out by IMC Editorial. The Other News section exists so that Indymedia contributors can comment on other articles that are available on the Internet. The usual format is to write a summary and to provide a link to the article in question - as shown by the original poster above. Indymedia Ireland provide a platform to encourage original writing and copying and pasting information which already exists on the Internet is against our editorial guidelines.

For the record, I *did not* post that article you just posted here on any IMC! If it is on an IMC, it was taken without permission from my website or infoshop. This is not about disagreeing comments to my articles. This is about name calling and sexist bullshit on my articles. A recent post on twin cities imc re this told me to shut up and go write a book on weight loss. You wonder why there are so few professional political writers. Well, we are all tending to our weight, which is far more important...I am sick of this crap.

"You wonder why there are so few professional political writers..."

Anyone who has tried to publish will quickly attest that there is no shortage of professional writers, political or otherwise. It is a very tough business to get into as there are so many of them, wheter politically motivated or not.

You're far from the only victim of tangential (sp?), non substantive critique. I'm afraid that will continue, whichever vehicle you choose to publish your views. If the president of the United States isn't immune from personal character attacks by others, how can we think that we meek citizens would be? I consider it good practice in humility and patience....heck, you might even consider it a challenge to make shallow commentators sway toward objectivity and rational thought.

Whether women are more prone to such abusive critique I'm not certain. I haven't seen any statistics from this site or others. Personally, I have seen both genders on the receiving end of it.

Good luck in finding a safe and cozy outlet for your thoughts.

....peace out.
