Amal Murkus - one of the most beautiful voices of the 20th century, makes her Irish Debut
Born in the village of Kufur Yasif in the Galilee, Palestinian singer and actress Amal Murkus, has been voted – for her Israeli Oscar-winning performance with Jessie Norman – as having one of the most beautiful voices of the 20th century.

Her captivating live performances are deeply touching and inspirational, full of strength and dignity. With a repertoire of original compositions by leading Palestinian poets and classical Arabic and Palestinian folksongs, her stunning textual vocals flow soulfully over a rich tapestry of instrumentation, created by her highly accomplished multi-instrumental duo.

Amal Murkus has dedicated her career to smashing stereotypes in her homeland of Israel and is constantly in the forefront of the fight against exclusion and marginalisation of Arab music and culture. She has been honoured by the U.S. Women’s Organisation, taken part in the 2nd World Conference on Music and Censorship and was invited to sing with Joan Baez at her anti-war concert in Tel-Aviv.

Her debut album ‘Amal’ (‘hope’) on the Israeli Hemisphere label, has created a global appetite for her highly awaited second album recently recorded at the Jerusalem Theatre with the Symphonic String Orchestra.

Amal will take part in the Panel Discussion at 1pm on Sunday 29th.

To Book tickets call the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire on 01-2312929

I don't know, Israel seems to be all over the place in that piece of advertising about this 'Palestinian' singer and 'her homeland of Israel'!!!!
What do ye think?
